Now then Kids, this is a Door and this is how it works

Post by Welly »

I came home from a trying day at work today to my 2 kids each with a friend in toe to play/feed.

Every time one of my kids went through a door then the friend would follow but leave the freaking door wide open :x this happened to the front door, then the back door, the side gate, the garage....bloody hell what do kids think when the walk through these 'doors' eh? it'll close itself?

I hastened to challenge one of them about said door-leaving-open to which they replied "ugh?" :|

I blame the schools :supafrisk:

They don't get any better with age, my 17 year old son will leave everything out the cupboards, fridge, etc. He goes out the garage on his scooter and always leaves the garage side door open, he dries his hair in a morning and walks down the stairs leaving the hairdryer on  when I moan at him he just says....ok dad, no problem, but does it just the same

It took me about 18 months to train my 14 year old son to take his cup/plate up to the worktop near the sink for us to deal with and I'm currently hoping that by the 2012 Olympics the cup/plate will be put INTO the sink without supervision.

By 2016 I would like to see him pick up the clothes from the floor and bring them down for washing (instead of stepping over them).

By 2018 he might know how to hang a wet towel for effective drying :frown:

Kids, you gotta love'm.......

Are you not allowed to beat kids with in an inch of their lives anymore ?? never
did me any harm  Seriously though i was raised in an age where you
were taught respect and manners and you were disciplined if you strayed , when
i visit younger friends who have children i cringe when i see their behaviour.
I respect you welly for recognising this failure in todays youth and hoping to
do something about it ..

I place the blame squarely at modern technology including TV's, Mobiles and the Internet not forgetting our inevitable following of all things USA. My daughter is 11 with the social diary of a A-list celebrity  her constant invites for 'sleep-overs' is getting beyond a joke.

Kids aren't allowed to be bored nowadays, I remember in the summer holidays having nothing to do - nothing at all, there were no computer games or internet and TV was crap. I was into BMX's and would cheerfully re-pack the crank bearings or un-buckle a wheel with me spoke key just for fun :) those days I'd go out early in the morning and only come home when it was dark or I was *really* hungry.

*Urgh* :|
