switched live in the engine bay?

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

switched live in the engine bay?

Post by weejimmy »

cant seem to find any switched lives to take a feed from in the engine bay of the 406 2.1 td,
theres one on the connection from the old pump to ecu (now running bosh pump) but it stays on for 15 sec after switching the car off.
is there any proper switched lives in the engine bay at all?

I don't have a wiring diagram (Haynes!) to hand, but the abs ecu (on the abs pump), engine ecu and relay box (located next to the ecu) should have ignition-switched connections. You won't want to run anything heavier than a low current relay off these lines though!

Oooh hang on. The reverse switch on top of the gearbox will be ignition-switched, although I can't remember if it's handled by the ECU or not
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
