as title really.
since my question about getting more out of a 2.2 sri hasn't brought any replis i thought i'd go back to gogle and search around. found this...
For sheer pleasure, the mark 1 two-litre turbo is a better proposition, although the old turbo model loses out in overall quality and equipment when compared directly to the 2.2 (its replacement).
Acceleration is brisk and satisfying with decent pull right to the redline; in a straight line it feels quicker and more aggressive than the old 2.0 turbo. The 406, if well-driven, can be a match for sportier motors in a straight line.
The engine responds very well to tuning. A Collins Powerchip, a full stainless exhaust and an induction kit transformed the car into a raging maniac, with torque spilling over in all gears, and the ability to accelerate right into the redline. After modification, the car simply launched itself at high revs, with each thousand extra revs bringing a new surge of power, even at 5000rpm and higher.
anyone heard of the collins power chip? or better still, anyone tried/got one?
anyone hear of a collins powerchip for a 2.2 sri?

This seems to be the home page for Collins Powerchips (seemingly a subsidiary of Mongoose Exhausts):

There is no entry for a 406 2.2 petrol model, only for a 2.2 HDi. I think the text you quoted from may have been referring to the 2.2 HDi, rather than the 2.2 petrol.

Definately talking about a derv there, 'each extra thousand revs bringing a new surge of power, even at 5000rpm and higher!'
I dunno if I'd be very happy pushing my HDi into the redline, at those revs i'd guess its not burning the fuel properly and throwing oceans of smoke out the tailpipe. I gave up putting my HDi past 3500rpm ages ago, theres nothing the other side of it
