Slight loss of power?

Post by Captain Jack »

Hi guys,

Since I remapped my car back to its original state, it *seems* to be down on power compared to pre-remap. Now, I know that it's probably just my imagination because I know what it's like when remapped , but I can't help but feel that it was better before.

Anyway, this weekend I've done a full service with all filters replaced (air filter was filthy!) and oil changed. I've also sprayed my MAF with a brake cleaner in hope that a) it helped and b) it didn't destroy that MAF! It didn't seem to be as shiny as it was before I sprayed it.... :? The service certainly made the engine a bit quieter and I've also stuffed some injector cleaner inside. And I've disconnected the vacuum pipe from the EGR and blocked it with a screw. In a way it seems better but it could be a placebo effect. In fact the whole thing could be a placebo effect

I've also replaced a COM2000 stalk and gotten rid of many rattles in the steering column!

What a busy weekend....

Any ideas?

I think you're probably not remembering accurately. I've convinced myself several times that mine is slower than immediately after the remap and it's 'learnt' how to dawdle again.

No one else agrees, it's probably all in my head....
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
