Re: 2002 406 HDi GTX Auto Estate - Swap for manual?
How much tax/mot is on it, 110 or 90bhp
Re: 2002 406 HDi GTX Auto Estate - Swap for manual?
Would my car and a bit of cash from me to you be of interest?
Details of my car........
2000 406 HDI Estate 110bhp LX in silver
MOT till mid April 2011
Tax till end of May 2011
2 Previous owners
116,541 miles (going up daily)
Fully stamped Peugeot history (Not one service has been missed!)
Cambelt changed at 94,675 miles, this was carried out by a Peugeot main dealer with reciept and stamp.
Almost every reciept with the original books.
Her spec is fantastic.....
4 Electric windows
Central locking off the key fob
Alarm/immob
Power steering
Height adjustable seats
Height adjustable steering wheel
Armrests in the front!
Remote wipers
Freezing cold Aircon that was re-gassed 8 months ago
Digital climate control
On board computer that tells you how many miles you have left till fill up, average speed, average MPG etc.....Also informs you which one of the doors, boot or bonnet is not closed properly and all info about engine if anything needs topping up.
Rear headrests
4 airbags
The previous owner was a chap in his late 50's, his job.....Traffic Cop! So this car was never in need of anything and to be honest it shows in her condition and the way she drives.
I gave her a full service just over 2,000 miles ago using Mobil 1 oil, OE oil filter, OE air filter, OE diesel filter and some STP Diesel injector cleaner.
Also had new front tyres, brake discs, brake pads and aux belt done in June 2010.
Inside and outside the car....Fantastic! Previous owner used to get the guys at Thames Valley Police to clean it every week whilst they were doing the patrol cars, I suppose there has to be a perk with every job!
Drives like new. Pulls very well in every gear and as being the 110 model she has some poke.
If you want to increase the performance on these it's easy being an HDI manual as you get them re-mapped. A re-map takes her from 110bhp to 140bhp and takes her torque from 250 to 300!! A re-map is about £200 depending on where you go but I find her standard performance more than fine for me.
MPG.... Well I average 47.5 - 48.1mpg around town and 58mpg on a run. Always run her on either BP or Shell diesel due to the quality of diesel
Also have upgraded speakers all round as I love my music! The speakers are in the original door pockets so can't be seen! And a very expensive amplifier kit was installed. The entire lot was installed by Car Audio Centre in Aylesbury. This is all run off the standard headunit and sounds fantastic!
I am located in Milton Keynes. Reason for wanting an auto is an old kickboxing injury that has come back to haunt me on my left leg. Dr said it is ok and safe for me to drive a manual but to maybe keep my eyes open for an auto as after my operation in March 2011 I really will be stuck! Will be a great shame to see her go as she is fantastic with a service history like I have never seen on any car.......and also going to an Auto the MPG and 0-60 drops as my boss has an Auto 406 HDI which he gets on average 38mpg, I don't know if this is due to the mileage though......198,000!!
Let me know if she is of interest chap.
Paul.

£1900 is it gold plated or something. Some people seem to live in a dream world when it comes to pricing.Jimblob wrote:I'm going to PX this on Monday for a van. If anyone wants to buy it before Monday, they can for £1900 (no offers sorry)

The offer I have (and have provisionally accepted) is £1400 trade in, I'm not trying to be greedy just offering the car if someone wants it. If I don't trade it in then I have a 40 mile trip to do on public transport to get my new vehicle (yuck!) and have to take time out to deal with the enquiries, so there has to be something to make it worthwhile selling it.
By the way the people on this forum have been superb, so helpful, and if I don't need the van at some point I wouldn't be surprised to end up with a (manual) 406 again in the future, especially as they're so cheap. Only gripe is the diesels seem to be about 10mpg less efficient than the Passat TDis.
