Perhaps a stone's got in there or something. I think you'll need to pull the belt off and have a look.

Change and sort quickly,
I left mine 2 or 3 days earlier this year and cost me a packet when it snapped and took out the cambelt.

Re: Aux Belt Pulley
just had a look at my belts again this time why car is running, the aux belt is running off the pulley next to the alternator
its as tho it wants to run off the pulley towards the engine side
been back to garage just now, they said drop it off in the morning and they will replace the belt at their expense,
if the pulley is at fault i only have to pay for that they will still replace the belt at their cost
so i am not using the car now only to drive garage in the morning , its only half mile away

Re: Aux Belt Pulley
The idler pulley failed on my last Citreon, it threw the aux belt, but I was lucky - it didn't do any more damage.
Sounds to me like you need to change the idler / tensioner & possibly the belt again.
As Teamy said elsewhere - if you're thinking of taking the aux belt off, take a pic first & save yourself loads of head-scratching.

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.
