front fog light alternative - am i stoopid?

i had an idea for my d9.

now this has come cos one of my fog lights is steamed up and i have HIDs which are nice and white along with my led side lights.

i thought i might get some fog light blanking plates (see my wanted thread) and put some of those led strip lights in to replace my fog lights. i would prolly run with these on with my hids as i think they can look real nice (depending on colour, size, length of strip and brightness).

but am i being stoopid?

Designed to complement HID installations, and you don't need to ditch your fog lights for flexi-LED strips (which won't light your way in the fog very well at all)

would a H7 LED headlight bulb for dipped beam work ?

or will it not be bright enough for dipped beam

LED headlamps will almost certainly be illegal at present unless it is OEM equipment fitted at the factory (like Lexus' new car with LED headlamps).

LED sidelights are technically illegal, as are after-market HID headlamps, and any blue (or blue-ish) lights on your car - buyers beware.

I have just bought a complete set of four (2x dipped 2x main beam) Osram Nightbreaker Plus H7 headlamp bulbs, and am trying to fit them to my Coupe. I managed to get one main beam bulb in so far difficult to do on the Coupe, as I've found... anyway, they would appear to be significantly brighter than standard bulbs. I'm going to stick with them, but I'll sneak in some pure-white LED sidelight bulbs soon. If they're brighter than the dipped headlights, then they'll be noticed by the police more easily and may result in a stop-and-check.

I would think specifically-designed after-market LED fog light bulbs may also be technically illegal, but certainly less noticeable than blue-tinged after-market HIDs. If the front fog lamps weren't so difficult to get at, I'd probably put a set of them in my Coupe.

i use LED sidelight bulbs with SMD LEDs, from the front them just look like a small dot there not the 360degree type mine only have 2 small leds on the front of the bulb, and dont look blue

my headlight bulbs are standard H7 , the bulb is covered in a blue coating, but when on they just look super white cant see no blue in them when on

i dont know why people put blue on , i dont like that i prefere the super ice white look ,

i really dislike blue lights, as a motorist seeing blue lights coming towards you or badly fitted HID lights i can say bad talk about them other drivers because they cause awful glare to me driving along.

on the topic of the fogs, they look nice on a d9 and mine are steamed up i just need to get them out which rests entirely around the top fecking bolt if anyone knows how human hands can get a tool to remove it tell me, because with the fogs out i could fill them with rice and get rid of the moisture.

the french obviously have an undiscovered animal working in their factory specifically made to put in this top bolt.

But keep your fogs they look nice.

I seem to recall unclipping the grill to reach one of the bolts for the fogs, but I can't remember if it helped or not!

you mean the lower grille. i took out the honeycomb grille, headlight and wheel arch liner and still couldnt get at it, mind the wheel arch wasnt completley off nor was the wheel.

It may have been the lower grill, I have removed the upper and the lower grill at various times. The lower one is a PITA as I recall, and I dont know if it helps with the fogs.

PITA doesnt sound good but i dont think its the place for access, i think the whole bumper may need off. Has anyone fully removed them, its almost making changing a bulb in a megane seem easy

I definitely didn't remove the wheel or the bumper to replace the foglight. The car was up on ramps, so I had a little extra room under the front.
I had one or both of the grills off. Even then the top bolt can only be felt, it can't be seen.
