battery been disconected wont restart

Hi folks, A friend of mine has a V reg 110, that he replaced the altenator on this weekend. Whilst in the process of working on the car he removed the battery to recharge it. Now he has refitted the battery the car wont start. Can you guy's help. What does he need to do?

Hi there, does it have an ECU? if it does, connect battery and turn ignition to stage two, leave for a bit, maybe 30 secs before trying to start, this allows ecu to re-set. Otherwise, has it got an immoboliser?

We havent yet got closure on this prob?

He's been told by auto electrician that when he reconnected the battery, the sudden jolt burnt the ecu out ?

I have an ecu that will fit his car, but stupidley sold the key and ignition barrel.

I have asked the chap for the chip board out of the key and he is willing to post it back to me.

I'll let you know how we get on.

ive had the battery off a few times just the +ve and reconnecting it hasnt done any harm.

You should also get the transponder out of the key!
