im saving up for a donor car, i have a budjet of £400, ive seen stuff come up on gumtree from time to time, much better than a scrapyard, because i can go out to the shed any time i want, i also plan to test out a remap on it if i get one, and you can use it to take stuff apart and see how the cars built. I want one with good bodywork to save me the bother of taking it to a body shop. Heres something i seen earlier:
http://belfast.gumtree.com/belfast/30/70872330.html
it could pay for itself, sell the leather interior and id still have plenty of useful parts, and when the time comes for scrapping it would probably have cost nothing.

thats the main plan to have a donor car, there is plenty of space in one of the sheds at the farm for it to be broken.

For £200? As long as the timing belt/tensioners/water pump have been replaced recently, that's a bargain. Otherwise, you have to think the car will actually cost closer to £800.

timing belts and water pumps do not matter one bit, the first thing id do to it would be to take the tools to it, and break it down for parts, with scrap valued so highly at the moment it seems like a good price to avoid a big loss.

Oh, you're buying to break rather than to fix up?

You could potentially buy that car for £200, do it up, and sell it for a fair whack more - diesels hold their value better than petrols these days.

Also, you're taking a perfectly valid running 406 off the road. Fair enough if it's a non-runner (i.e. the belt has already snapped and most of the engine has completely f*cked itself over).

this thing is a runner a 2000 hdi 110, spec wise its no exec but it does have 4 electric windows, a cd player, and ac. And its running, just feels very loose, and the steering wobbles and pulls to one side, and the brakes are quite bad, and its had a slight ding.
