The garage said that because of the position of the dent, they wouldn't be able to fit a new repeater without repairing the wing (which means the removal of the dent, then sanding off the paint and properly respraying it = £££££)
Because the repeater is mashed, the car would never pass the MOT. Replacing the wing and repeater will at least allow me to get it road-legal again. Having 12 months' MOT on a car is a good selling point, even one that has suffered some nasty scratching. If I had the money to spare, I'd replace both the doors and the wing mirror casing as well, but I don't.
