The future
I hope the guvnors don't mind, but i'm on their side with this one...
Hokay, we all know that the 406oc is the finest club in the world, frequented by the finest members in the world, who appreciate the finest affordable saloon, estate and coop in the world.
I would like to start a discussion about how we can ensure the future of the club, and get a greater involvement from it's members. Nothing sudden, but a couple of things I propose for the future are...
1) During the month of December we each donate a tenner to the site, to show our appreciation for the excellent service, and...
2) We start planning (in principle) now for a shed load of us to turn up en masse next year and have a meet, perhaps at Pugfest or somesuch. Give us all something to look forward to and show those 205 wallahs what a real car is. Only 3 406 saloons made it this year, one of which was mine, and we need to show a united front to the spottiebums next time round.
Anyone got any comments about the above, or any other ideas?
Rich.

good idea turbo but a couple of issues
1. I dont disagree about donating some money but we need to know how, i have a hard and fast rule that i will NEVER put my card details on this computer so is there a different way to donate?????
2. sounds like a damn good idea for a meet but where is suitable ??? with enough notice it could work but i live in the north-east so its gonna be a long way for me (and geordie-boy)
sounds good tho

All good ideas, unfortuanley the number of regular posters you can count on 2 hands.
There are ways we can advertise, such as when selling car parts on ebay mention the site.
We can try to organize stickers --- anyone got any contacts?
Id like to go to a couple of car shows and get the club a stand, but never seem to have time when they come around.

Good points raised.... so lets start investing some time in making things happen, I'm off work from Thursday til Monday, long weekend break, so i'll have a look at what's possible in terms of stickers, now I'm an employee I can front the dollar to get them done !
As for meets, we have a year before all the next shows, enough time to sort the old boat out
Everyone has a years notic to get ready and SAVE up and book the time off....
Does anyone want a 406oc.co.uk t-shirt ? lol

1. Not too sure about donating tbh, I'm on nearly 100 forums, alot of which are run by invision free, others get the costs from advertising. Maybe if someone posts how much it costs to run per year we can perhaps cover that cost between us rather than donating a certain amount.
2. Would be great to meet everyone, but it would have to be a top class meet somewhere to make it worth while, espec for us from the North East. I dont mind driving so could even share costs with trem1 if he wasn't bothered about taking his car. I found from the French Car Show event that I was knackered coming home from being on the stand all day, so would have prefered to have stayed that nite poss instead of staying the previous nite in a hotel.

Invision free sucks ass, people only use it because its free! We have an IPB over at pug306.net and thats just about the best (and most expensive) forum package around. I dont know who remembers my little forum before me and Nick merged, well that was invis free.
We could look at upgrading the forums but £££
Reality is web hosting costs money, its costs even more for a reliable server... Not some spotty american kid with a few server units.
I say we get some stickers made, and all meet at the next car show no matter where it is...... Ill try and get a stand for 10-15 cars booked if someone tells me where and when it is.

I'm on hundreds of forums too, but this and the PSOOC are the main ones so I will definitely donate a tenner as an xmas pressie. Perhaps if the powers that be made some stickers and sent a few out for each donation over a tenner then a few would go for it.
I'm reluctant to donate via the net, having been reamed up the nethers before by palpal, but i'm sure they'll take a cheque, or or I could even slip a tenner to Foxy and he could pass it on???
Pugfest is awesome. It's only a tenner to non PSOOC members, and the opportunity is there to camp the night before. Also, there's the concours and show 'n' shine events if you're a megs monkey, and the trade stalls and array of thousands of pugs makes it a pug lovers delight. Add to that the opportunity to take your car up the historic Prescott hillclimb track and it's a fantastic weekend away, for little more than the cost of the fuel.
We need to show the owners of inferior pugs that the 406 is a worthy cause, and a tasty alternative to 306/205 drudgery.
I'll contact the PSOOC Foxy and ask them to keep me informed of next years dates for Pugfest, and perhaps let them know nearer the time that a few of us might well fly the flag.
PS - see you Friday Foxy - I got you programmed in the SatNav now.

at the risk of sounding like a thick geordie where is pugfest held i assume down south but how far south???
you mentioned camping now that makes it a lot more appealing for a couple of reasons first and most important being
1.BEER cos if i camping i can have beer sitting on a campsite with loads of mates and plenty cans of aforementioned liquid sounds very very good idea

If anyone wants to contribute towards site costs, then PM Nick for his address/paypal. He sorts all the hosting out. Every penny would be welcome and nothing will be wasted.
As for stickers, if someone whos good with fonts/graphics does me a '406oc.co.uk' design Ill see what I can so about getting some ran off.
Otherwise it will just be a standard font!

Too bad I live so far away... I have like never anything to do...
But I WILL make a meet next year if planned well. Even if I have to drive on the wrong side of the road
Not to fond of a "UK" sticker on my car in Germany (or any stickers on my car) but i'd definitly buy one to support the site.
