51 Plate 406GLX 90bhp Diesel Leak!! Help Please!!!

Post by mad4it »

Hi, I own a 51 plate Peugeot 406, ex Company Car. Its done 144,988 miles. Just before I owned it it had its 1st clutch changed, and last year @ 126k miles it had the high pressue diesel punp and lift pump in tank replaced due to the usual known faults with these.

I have noticed over the last few months a small puddle of what I now know to be diesel where I park the car over night. I finally looked at it today with a mechanic friend as the car is due for a service soon anyway, so was just generally looking at the car to check for potential issues during service. I noticed on the near side of the engine between the battery to back of engine block there is a pipe/something similar covered in dirt, looking wet and smelling/stinking of diesel. Looking below this you can see its obviously been dripping/leaking for a while and chasis leg and everything below this is wet. Does any 1 have any clues what this could potentially be? I will post some pics tomorrow and hope it can show things better then my poor descriptions

Oh just to say I can say for sure its not the fuel filter well/where fuel filter is. I have changed these b4 after I had the high pressure pump replaced, so I know what and where that is, and also checked the drain plug on the bottom of the filter well is securely done up. Also the leak is on the other side of the engine. :s

Cheers

Paul

Reason: Not impressed with flikr, a link is meant to be a link, not a sodding blank page. Idiots.

my advice would be clean it up and then start the engine.

diesel is under a lot of pressure in the system so you will see were its leaking with the engine running.

keep cleaning the area . you will eventually see it..
