Am I being paranoid?

Post by plod »

When I left work yesterday I went round to the local garage to put some fuel in

When I went in, there was 2 guys hanging around the counter

I paid, and the guy to the left started talking to me
Chatted to him for 30 secs
Turned round to walk out, and the other guy was on the forecourt
It "appeared" as if he'd just taken a pic of my car and was spinning round and putting his phone away
He was on the nearside near the windscreen

I thought I was just being paranoid, and just shrugged it off
But
Keeps niggling me
Either he's took a pic of my tax disc, or he's took a pic of the vin number viewable through the screen

Appears one distracts you while the other does this
Can they clone my car from this?

Or, i'm just imagining it

no they carnt clone your car from the tax disc,
anyways if they tried Dvla wouid inform you someone is Applying for a V5 for your vehicle,
there is ways of cloning a car but its not something iwouid discuss on an open forum,

it be more than likely there car as no road tax
they can edit and print off a copy of your tax disc and put it on there car ,

I think I'd be taking a stumble into my nearest cop shop to ask what they think.

i would also give the police helpline a call see what they say just to be on the safe side.

i wouldnt worry about it to much dave. any1 can view your tax disc at any time and your VIN. they cant do much with that info.

they will not tell you to stop waisting their time if you phone the non emergency helpline ..

This is the thing

You could walk round say a multi storey car park, and take down hundreds of vin numbers

It might not have nothing to do with them trying to clone the car in anyway,
They for all you know be opertunitist Theives,
one as amobile so does the other,

a 1 ringer to say hes coming ,
they might be looking to see if youve left key in car,
wallet , sat nav, etc etc,

theres scum out there and petrol stations are comon place for someone waiting for a quick theiving sesion in so the can go and buy some drugs,

Was the pug towing the lorry?

:)
Sorry, I'm being silly

I'm paranoid about locking my car now after I left it unlocked, overnight, and some oppurtunistic scum used the oppurtunity to rifle through the glovebox. Took the Satnav and iPod, but left *all* the CDs in a nieat pile on the passengers seat.

Whilst in London a few years back, I pulled up outside an address
Up till that day, every time I got out the vehicle, I put the sat nav in my pocket
I expected to be delivering to a business, but it was a personal residence

I parked outside, walked up the driver, so was maybe 25 feet from the vehicle
Knocked on the door and then turned round
Thought, don't remember leaving the door open
A car wheelspins off and I see the charging lead hanging out the door
Take the registration, call the police
They were polite about it, and to be fair kept me updated, but came back in the end and said, the owner "claims" the vehicle was in a garage having repair work carried out and wasn't driving the car at the time

Ever since then, I always lock the car, or the lorry, if i'm out the vehicle

Was worse, as I forgot to cancel the "Auto Update" and got charged £60 for the privilege

There theiving barstewerd up here,
what they do is look at cars if they see a ring mark on the windscreens where a sat navs been,
Bosh window and raid it,
Asda bags or anything like that theyl smash a window for it,

ive seen it time and time again but no one learns,
5 secounds to put stuff in the boot is all it takes,
also some glass wipes to wipe off the suction marks is good practice,

Theres Dirty smack heads every where theyl ave anything away for a fix,

ive had loads of stuff knicked ive even had to run electric bars on the windows in my Garage

If its not nailed down theyl have it :(

The police are useless Whats a Caution !
My wifes uncle caught someone burgling his 79 year old dads house,
He didnt ring the police he was beaten to a pulp and thrown out on the street for the rest of the street to have a kick,
copper came and said ive seen Nothing !

about time they all got this treatment then the theiving will stop,
