dashboard/speedo

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

help

the wifes just phoned me to say the 406 has gone mad as im working away at the moment

seemingly on her way to work the speedo went mad she was doing 40 it fell back to zero up to 140 then back to zero and no longer works, the rest of the gauges work ok along with the rev counter

any ideas??

and if its knackered will any 406 dashboard fit or does it need to be 1.8 16v specific one?

Theres a little black box behind the glovebox that can sometimes play up, I had the same problem after i fiddled about and knocked the box off its mount, the speedo would flick about and say I was doing 41 no matter how fast or slow I way going

Maybe worth checking the connections on that before you start pulling the binnicle out etc
