Leaky Oil Seals On Turbo - Easy Fix ???

Post by gumby6371 »

My mechanic mate has just done a head gasket for me, Pressure tested ok and new gasket fitted.....but..... he said the turbo oil seals are leaking but with the age of the car and the work involved to strip the turbo he's advised me to live with it. Has anyone reconned a turbo on a 1.9td? is it an easy diy fix?
He said he'd fit a belly pan to catch the oil and stop it making a mess of the now clean engine bay and my drive so I'll probably live with it if it's a ball ache to fix...any suggestions?

Have a read of this KB article. It applies to the garrett petrol turbo but I would have thought the theory must be the same.
