I cant get the airbag out
I know you need to put a flathead screwdriver in the opening at the bottom of the wheel, push it up and press the spring, i have got to that stage, the bottom of the airbag pops out but the top i cant get out at all.
Re: I cant get the airbag out
tap the wheel gently not the horn part the actual part you steer the car with
ihad this problem recently on another car, there a pain sometimes ,

Re: I cant get the airbag out
On my D9 after the "screwdriver" pop, it took a good yank at the airbag to get it off. Was a bit scary doing that.
One of the clips broke, but as they were on the COM2000 already I didn't worry.
It was just getting it off again as I hadn't fitted the steering wheel nut
and broke the clip of the new one and had to get the soldering iron out.

Re: I cant get the airbag out
thats the problem i dont want to break the com2000 as this is the new one.
if the breakers ever gets a 406 in ill have a go on it first. I hope they get a nice 03/04 se for some good parts. fill a cardboard box and get them all cheap because the man at the scrapyard calls bits of trim plastic tat. He is glad to get rid of the stuff out of his way so he can charge for the more valuable bits behind them.

Re: I cant get the airbag out
It took me a few goes but on mine I found I had to push on the horn pad a little, then push the screwdriver and it just popped off.

Re: I cant get the airbag out
Scrapyards get no money in metal for the plastics, they just get in the way, so most are glad of someone to sell them on cheaply.
They are an awkward bugger. Only for the ridiculously poor design of the COM2000 they would never have to be taken off by mere mortals.
