Crash tests
i would be fond of buying a 205 if i could then i seen this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_gDfXHvCl4&NR=1
i know they arent safe, it hasnt really put me off (just install a roll cage) but its amazing how much safety has changed. the 205s crumpe zone literally was the front passenger compartment.

Re: Crash tests
Citroen AX was worse.
Back then it wasn't as much of an issue.
Suppose now with everybody feeling invincible in SUVs its more of a liability.

Re: Crash tests
if the 205 did that the ax must have swapped places between the front and back.

Re: Crash tests
wow the wee ax did very good there, thats 5 stars no problem the a pillar hasnt deformed a bit, and the doors can probably be opened easily.

Re: Crash tests
My old ZX seemed to collect dents very easily, would hate to have seen it in a crash.

Re: Crash tests
they were all just as bad in the days before the crash tests. Although a few cars like the 605/XM the renault 25 and even the 800 were good in a crash
even the germans were bad in crashes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ukq-UUQA ... re=related
that makes the 205 look safe.

it doesnt seem too bad, looks better than the d8 crash test
but new cars are all ncap mad the a pillars stay the same, and the pedals move up even the steering wheels stay there.
Re: Crash tests
Only look at offset tests - as they truly judge a car's safety credentials.
Look at the ZX and the dummy hitting the steering wheel! Not fun. As for the 205/AX - it's common knowledge that riding around in a wheelbarrow has more crash safety!

Re: Crash tests
XM would have them bouncing onto the bonnet. Albeit the pointy nose would have ripped their legs in twoFarmerPug wrote:the c6 is still one of euro ncaps safest cars even for pedestrians though id love to see a proper test being done on the xm

Still, I'd rather face my chances against an XM than something ridiculous like a QashQow or Land Cruiser.

Re: Crash tests
i dont know how pedestrian friendly the xm was, it came from the time when they didnt care about the pedestrians as much.
But i do think the actual occupant safety of the xm was quite good.

Re: Crash tests
Saw an older lady wafting about Thurso in an old Citroen BX when I was up there visiting my Mum last month, looked just like this one (except no spoiler):

2002 (D9) Peugeot 406 Coupe SE, 2.2 litre Petrol. Scarlet Red/Rouge Ecarlate/Rosso Scarlatto. Black Leather interior. SOLD
2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

Re: Crash tests
you may laugh
i think the bx looks great, and they are MASSIVE on the inside.
plastic boot and bonnet as well as lightwheight building techniques it was economical but not the safest car in the world.
