todays job list and failures

well after a full day monday cleaning the exterior, a full day sunday cleaning the interior, today ive changed front & rear discs & pads (pagid), repaired both front ABS Reluctor rings, removed the diesel particulate filter, oil flush, oil & filter, air & fuel & pollen filters, 4 wheel alignment, 5.1 brake fluid change, new lower crank pulley, realigned bonnet, new wiper blades, new floor mats.......... jobs left to do are replace aircon compressor, attempt a repair on the com2000 indicator stalk or replace if not repairable, change the stereo and remove the sat nav, do something with the plastic wood effect/ silver carbon wrap maybe, medium tint on the windows, front bumper, windscreen....... She will be a Great Car Again ! Faliures were 3 hours wasted with a Galletto interface cable that wont connect and finding on top of the rest of knackered parts on the car that the aircon compressor is no good..... i really feel like paying the previous owner a visit and demanding some money back ! But i guess i will just put it down to experience and continue rebuilding

wow good work, you did a lot there today. All i managed to do was puncture a tyre and find a better way to route the wires for additional 12v sockets under the seats.
Did you buy a damaged car?

damaged through negelect is what i am tackling m8 and it appears although i wasnt informed before doing a 240 mile round trip the car does have ...... erm ...... shall we say history but she will be 100% before i'm finished with her and i am loving it to be honest i am a strange bloke lol

dont worry i love fixing at my old pug as well, i might give out when something breaks because of the cost of a new part but i enjoy fitting or replacing parts.

i find it quite satisfying, taking a wreck and putting a few hours in and making something great again, i wont tell you about the 60k i put into my last toyota celica difference with the pug is just how cheap the parts are ! its a revelation !!!

spending money on a car is better than spending money on drink or cigarettes, thats what i say to anyone who ever questions what i spend on a car.
Peugeot parts can be cheap yes, thats whats great about them, but while there is cheap parts to be had, you can pay silly money for some things like sealing sheets and the sat nav screen.

Are you sure it's the compressor, Ian?

yeah i think so, the system is gassed, the clutch operates when the button is pressed, but the gas isnt circulating

That does seem conclusive.

(Only mention it because compressor failures are relatively uncommon compared to leaky condensers / pipes / control relays, it seems).

COM2000 - someone on here tried a repair once but it was very fiddly involving springs etc.

Previous owner of mine stuffed the steering column with newspaper painted black.
I just fired a new one on, was easier.

Mine has a bit of black sponge glued under the stalk. Works very well
