Air Con problems

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Air Con problems

Post by Matt »

My aircon hasnt been right for a little while now, theres no pressure in the system, but when i tried a recharge the system still does not engage, i hear no clicks from the BSI and the clutch never engages on the compressor, this is probably to do with the low pressure i'm guessing.

I had the system serviced a year or so ago and had some pipe work replaced and it was working great.

Where do i start trying to figure out which part is knackered?

did you refill it yourself ? if yes thats a big NO NO

air con in my view is for the specialists only.

they do a die test to find any leaks in the system. and to do that needs specialist equipment,,

how much did you pay for the can ?
the last time i looked at the price of those they was actually more than it costs to get pressure tested at a specialist garage.

air con has always been something best left to a pro ...

I'd be surprised if it's legal to sell those cans anymore

The cans are ok,
but they are for topping up air con,
if your aircon is empty they are a waste of time,

you can only fill so much of the loop if the air con comp is not running, it needs to be running to draw it in,

there are 2 pipes you top up the air con from the low and high, hence machine needed,

top up cans only have one pipe,
