Hi all glad to join this 406 club. im from east kent an had my 406 estate now for bout a yr. Touch wood its never let me down. Im hoping with your pointers an help i can keep it that way lol. The only thing is im wanting to modifiy it abit.

Hello & welcome.

What year and engine and trim level is your 406? How long have you had it and how far has it travelled? Do you have pictures? :D

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

mt estate is a 2l x reg and its the gtx trim. its in dark blue with 156,000miles on the clock but im the 3rd owner. im guessing it might of been a rep or taxi in its early years

Something like 70% of all UK 406s were fleet cars (repmobiles or taxis, typically, but there were some modified for police use) so it's not unlikely yours has had that type of history.

My old 406 saloon (1.8 petrol LX) was owned by Britannia Insurance by a rep who lived in Glasgow - from the first registration date in November 1999 through to the day I bought her in November 2008, she'd done around 29,000 miles - the guy must have been driving her from his house to his office and back, and that's it.

Mine came from here: http://www.blackhorsecarsales.co.uk/ which is very close to where I used to live at the time. I assume, therefore that mine was a fleet motor for Lloyds bank. It was 3 years old and had 84,000 miles on it.; that was in 2005. It had an address in Falkirk stored in the satellite navigation system as "home".
