Help!

I have just changed the battery on my 2002 Rapier 110 and now i have the key symbol up on the dash and the car wont' start and the remote central locking has packed up,i get an engine imobiliser warning on the mfd,what can i do??

Oh bugger There is a procedure for disconnecting/reconnecting a D9 battery on the Knowledge Base, if you turn off the engine & immediately whip the battery out the high voltage spikes from the sparks are likely to upset the BSI. We really need to make that more obvious I guess.

Usually it's just the central locking that goes - did you try turning the key upside down?

Other than that you could try a BSI reset.

The car had been standing and had not been started for at least 24hrs so i thought it would be o.k.,i've had the battery off twice in the past with no problems.I found an auto electritian a few miles away and he has just stopped in on his way home from work with his laptop,he plugged it in and entered the code and reset everything,hey presto back in business! £40 lighter but worth it to be back on the road

Daft, it may sound,
but maybe this thread couid be pinned on the kb along with the bsi reset procedure,
to give warning to others before disconecting batterys,

just an idea,
