Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

2000 406 hdi speedo faults etc.....

Post by DAMOpeugoet »

Hi my 00 406 hdi 110 was giving intermittent electrical faults - speedo and rev counter would suddenly stop after a road bump. No fault code was recorded. Today engine management light came on - speedo, rev counter, radio, brake lights and indicators stopped working. After a couple of miles and a few bumps the engine management light went off and all the other stuff started working. When I took the ignition out the dash lights stayed on for a few minutes. I have a feeling these problems are all related to a wiring loom short. Can anyone help me please?

I had similar problems caused by a dodgy relay in the ECU housing, which was in turn caused by a bad earth connection (battery to body). Check your earths first, and look carefully for any sign of badly corroded or burned wiring
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
