The Final Straw........
My engine light is back on today after accelerating briskly from a busy junction to join the flow.
I am sorry to say that the car will have to go now I am pissed off with it.
I am f*cked if I'm going to spend £1,000.00 getting all the other stuff done like clutch, flywheel, engine mount, EGR, Bottom pulley, exhaust etc if it's going to keep letting me down with stupid faults all the time.
I honestly never know if it's working right or not, it's allways seemed to be better somedays than others and I allways put it down to atmospheric conditions, or fuel, or me, but I think there is more to it now.
Oh, and Supa it is sounding like a clattery old tractor with the light on (the fueling must be all to cock).
This may seem like an over reaction but I have been thinking recently about the worthyness of the car and can't seem to justify it anymore.
EDITED to say I am getting the ECU checked next week and will report back, but not a happy chappy with puggy at the moment...
Sorry,
Welts.

Owning a car is very much a love-hate relationship.
I had reliability issues with my old Clio 16v, I bought it needing work and had it fixed up by a mate so it was running perfectly, but it munched through clutch cables (I snapped 3 in the end) and although I eventually sorted out the cause (wrong clutch pedal fitted) the car just had to go.
It's funny because when you become emotionally attached to a car (everybody has been at some point, I still am to my first one - that's why I'm sticking a V6 in it hehe) all it takes is a nice journey and you're in love with it again!

niz would your idea involve me somehow
Also, he could take it back to the garage because their work hasn't resolved the issue as it was intended to ! ! so they got it wrong !

Well, this morning it was lumpy when I started it up (missing) then on the way to work the seat heater didn't work
I've been wondering why sometimes it seemed to work better than others Thermostatic or just Thermo knackered ?
Niz, the previous ECU problem was the radiator cooling fan drawing too much current and causing a fault, the fan was replaced with an OEM item from eurocarparts (in a puggy box).
I do own the car personally, no finance
what was your idea?
I have to admit guys, that in both cases where I've had the ECU light come on it has been after a high speed run (100+) sounds a bit like Geordies' problem
I keep looking at VW Golf GT-TDi's and thinking mmmmmmm, Golf, mmmmmmm Golf
The car is going back into Puggy Hospital/Pet rescue on Wednesday for an ECG and CAT scan hopefully she will pull through but she had suffered a serious injury

Go and buy some mechanical breakdown cover and then take it to your garage, they can say that the parts fitted failed... as the problem still persists and then the cover will pay for it... you can get cover from about £99 a year!
Second Response:
Maybe you and geordie both have cars that are not meant to push the barrier of 100mph!
Both of you should contact the Derv Doctor, that will be cheaper than Puggy stealers and he will give you great advice over the phone, if that doesnt help to fix it then pay him a visit ! ! get it sorted and get back to happy motoring !

Well, the car has been saved, for now, following the successful re-setting of the Engine Light yesterday
The faults were:
) sort of shook the throttle pot which gave a false reading back to the ECU.
It has been reset and so far so good, and it cost me nothing too
You will laugh now but when an ECU is reset properly an increase in performance can occur, well it did here but the increase made my poorly clutch slip constantly
Welts, a slightly more happy owner.

The faults were:
- Throttle Potentiometer
P1403 Additional Pre-Heater circuit fault (this we found is nothing to do with my model)
P1404 Additional Heater circuit fault (this we found is nothing to do with my model)
