headlamp fuse location

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

headlamp fuse location

Post by bigknickers »

Hello learned ones, I have a 51 plate 110bhp 406 diesel estate, both headlights (dip beam) aren't working, I'd like to check the fuse, but have no idea where to find it, does anyone know where it is?

At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious, are you sure it hasn't blown both bulbs? These spledid cars do have a habbit of eating the H7 bulbs. My new one has had two in 3 months.
Just a thought.

Lozz, many thanks, Busman, I'm glad you said that, I've had 4 in a year! are there some bulb makes that are better quality and will last a few years?

I'm trying a new approach this year - one of my dips failed in November, so I swapped all 4 headlamp bulbs for Aldi's finest at £3.99 / pair, to see if this avoids the usual bulb change every few weeks scenario. So far so good.

Just to complicate matters further, your 51-plate car is probably a later style fully-mux job, in which case your headlamp fuses are F9, 10, 11, 12 in the engine fusebox, (IIRC).....
