Cold weather is expensive!!
I've noticed that now it's dropped properly cold my MPG's have taken a nose dive, the car is taking forever to warm up and it's killing the fuel economy.
Not only that I don't want to risk running on a veg/derv mix until it warms up a bit.
Roll on the spring, that's what I say!!!!

Anyone else see this topic and think "oh dear, someone's written off their '6..."?

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: Cold weather is expensive!!
Despite the recent (generally) milder weather, I still seem to be getting a bit less mpg than expected.
On a tour of the Midlands yesterday, (which involved about 140 miles of motorway / dual carriageway and about 80 miles on mostly A roads), the dogmobile returned about 44 mpg, which is not too bad, but I would have expected a couple of mpg more as I was taking it pretty easy.
Anybody finding the same, or otherwise?

Re: Cold weather is expensive!!
Funny this as the pension wagon is dropping a tad whereas I expected my recent ubber-wheel alignment session and warmer weather to have released a few mpg's of late
Current average 23.7 mpg, normally 25.4 ish
Average Speed = 27 mph.
Maybe atmospheric conditions? the 'wrong' air out there?
Maybe they're diluting our fuel with lemon juice?

I knew exactly what it was about before I looked

Erm.... 25mpg

As far as I know, in countries where the suppliers give a toss, they sell a slightly different blend of diesel, formulated to stop it waxing in the cold(ish) weather (could be true, could be bollocks). Perhaps this fuel isn't as efficientDoggy wrote:Despite the recent (generally) milder weather, I still seem to be getting a bit less mpg than expected.
