110 vs 110
I have a 2003 110 executive estate and recently sold my 2002 110 Rapier estate to my next door neighbour,my exec goes "ok" and if i hadn't had my 110 Rapier i would have thought all was fine but my old Rapier goes far better than my exec,i actually borrowed my old Rapier last night to prove to myself it does go better, you put your foot down and the turbo whistles in and off it goes like a scalded cat and looking in the mirror a fair bit of smoke.I get back in my exec and take it for a drive for comparison and put my foot down and the turbo whistles in and off it goes but just "goes" if you get what i mean, nothing like the Rapier, look in the mirror and no noticable smoke at all. Both cars have done nearly the same mileage(approx115k),the only difference in the cars is that the Rapier still has the original cat and my exec has an aftermarket one fitted and the Rapier has that air doser valve on the engine and the exec hasn't,has anyone experienced a "good" hdi and an"ok" hdi,my old Rapier is also far better on fuel, what could i be looking at as a potential problem or is it the norm for hdi's to be so different

Re: 110 vs 110
ive not driven a 406 yet that was as quick as my old vreg d9
even driving a hdi 110 in asmaller shell no where near as quick, ithink there restricted to reduce emisions
..............................................................................................................................................................................
Edit, sorted my hdi tonight,
someone mentioned the Accelertor cable, at first ithought huh, its on the wire,
but the Fella was right, there was loads of slack, just pulled cable to take out the slack and move down the clip,
suprising what diffence it makes

Thought had crossed my mind but the previous owners had it for years and before them it was a Peugeot lease car,the previous owners wouldn't know what a remap was i don't think.

Re: 110 vs 110
Did that and it made a bit of a difference low down(flat spot),i fitted a new one just to be on the safe side and it went just the same as with the old one plugged in,i'm not saying it doesn't "go" but from 2k onwards it just seems sluggish compared to the other car,the other car shot round from 2k-4k with a real "pull" to it.The Exec is going in for a remap as soon as i can get the time to get to the tuning place so i wonder what difference that'll make.

Re: 110 vs 110
I wouldn't take it for a remap before the current issue of apparent low power is resolved. Else the remap will just mask the problem, you won't get the full benefit and may make things worse!

Re: 110 vs 110
I think what i'm gonna have to do is try and get a drive in another 110 and compare with mine, mine might be as they are supposed to be and the Rapier was just a quicker car for some reason.

Re: 110 vs 110
1) Get a Galletto 1260 remapping tool (here, they're under £20)grasmere59 wrote:I think what i'm gonna have to do is try and get a drive in another 110 and compare with mine, mine might be as they are supposed to be and the Rapier was just a quicker car for some reason.
2) Plug it in to your old Rapier and make a copy of the map
3) Next, make a couple of backup copies of your Exec's map
4) Remap your Exec using the file from the Rapier
If your Exec now goes as quick as your Rapier did, then you know it was remapped. Also, enjoy your extra HP

If there's no difference (or it behaves worse) then remap it back using the backup copy of your Exec's original map. Then go get your car on a diag machine because it shouldn't be much different from the Rapier in terms of performance. OK, the Exec is going to be heavier (those nice motorized seats weigh a lot, plus the Exec will have an amp, satnav, etc etc), but it shouldn't be noticeably much slower.
Also, the Galletto kit comes with a disc full of maps, so you can try one of the included 406 maps as well, and can remap loads of other cars too (so you can do it for your mates for the price of a pint or two!) £20 isn't a bad price for a handy thing like that. I just wish it included a map for the 2.2 petrol engine

2008 (E60 LCI) BMW 525i M-Sport, 3.0 litre Petrol. Carbonschwarz Metallic. Black Dakota Leather and Myrtlewood interior.

Re: 110 vs 110
I wish i had the confidence to do that,i wouldn't even know how to make a copy of a map let alone anything else to do with the ecu, mechanical stuff i'm absolutely fine with but when it comes to messing with the cars ecu and computer stuff i'd be scared to death of bolloxing something up,i even managed to bugger up the immobiliser when i changed the battery on the old Rapier and had to pay someone to reset the damn thinghighlander wrote:1) Get a Galletto 1260 remapping tool (here, they're under £20)grasmere59 wrote:I think what i'm gonna have to do is try and get a drive in another 110 and compare with mine, mine might be as they are supposed to be and the Rapier was just a quicker car for some reason.
