I had a tank of biodiesel a few years ago and it was very unhappy.
Engine anti-pollution system defective galore. Very down on power -- struggled to get to 60 on flat motorway. Was one of the few occasions where it nearly let me down.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Could you run a car on heating oil? I've often wondered.

Any diesel can run on well made biodiesel.
During the proccess of making Bio you get Mehtanol. If this isn't removed then the car will run like a big, seals with deteriorate etc etc.

Try mixing some two stroke with the bio, about 300mls to a full tank. Low ash miniral based oil.

You could also try some millers ecomax to up the cetane too.

You can run a diesel on heating oil (Kerosene but it is illegal), think you may have to mix it with oil though. Old engine oil, two stroke etc etc.
This is because it's very corse and it will wear pumps etc etc.

Theres something up! What two stroke you using and how much you putting in?

Two stroke ups the cetane of diesel so in theory it should burn cleaner and give less smoke :|

I worked with a bloke who tried running his heating boiler on transformer oil and smoked the neighbourhood out,i work on industrial boilers that run on bio heating oil, they used to run on red, they run clean as,it has the same consistancy as diesel but perhaps a bit thinner but is the same colour as diesel. If i didn't have an HDI i'd be sorely tempted.

Yes, loads of people do it here but it's poorer quality and waxes when it's too cold (so just like the stuff from the pumps then  )

Could very well be the two stroke cleaning loads of crud out of the engine?

Ive added another few gallon of straight derv,
engine is quiet again,

but doing the Maths, something im not good at !

its pointless, not much savings, if the bio was abit cheaper itd be worth it,

iwill just run it on the pump stuff, for what its worth, getting 38 mpg round town so its not too bad,
