Hello everybody

Im currently experiencing a problem with clutch.
A few days ago i came and clutch pedal was at the half level down,not on the floor but not all the way up.
I had to drive home,barely made it,pulling pedal after each gear shift.

Home i found that the oil of the clutch was missing,little-bottle- was dry as fire.
Put some oil in it today but i couldnt find the thing where you let the air out (bleed valve?)

When i push the clutch and pull back about 30 times it gets good,like it was before,no problems and i can drive with it but as soon as i left the clutch alone for a few minutes its all the same again (pressing the clutch remains at half again).

I heared some alfa romeo owner had the same problem,he put the oil in it,pushed the pedal for about 40 times and it was all ok,the system vent air out itself.

Hi,
it wouid help to add what Year your 406 is,

some have a slave cylinder that is unservicable, no way of bleeding them,

see picture ive marked one off in the area of where to bleed it,
you will need a friend to help you or buy /borrow a easybleed kit,

ive not got a clue what car youve got sorry :?

Jesus,im stupid sometimes,sorry :oops:
Its a peugeot 406 1997 make ,2.0 turbo..108kw.

when i push the pedal few dosen time it gets ok,but after dead again.
that pics of yours are for HDI engines only?

Thanx for the effort,apreciate it really much cuz i dont know what im doing (poor with the mechanic) :P

Sorry im unsure of what slave cylinder is on your car,

perhaps if you took a picture of yours and post it it may help,

if its like this one, theres nothing you can do with it other than replace it, there expensive too,

Ent the older pugs got the non service able one it's
Just one piece ??? I no mike has topped his up not meant to but he did coz
His pedal stuck to the floor it maybe worth a try
2.1 glx p reg d9 half leather electric seats d9 centre console leather steering wheel front lag splitter de badged front end strut brace all grey bits of interior is now black
Things to do finish off fitting leather door cards,coil overs,window tint, fit wolfrace wheels with 20 mm spacers 225.45.17 and the list will continue

Lozz,I didnt took it down yet,waiting for mechanic to come by and see.
As i can see,it dripped oil on the pedal,but really slowly,the oil gets dry on the end of the pedal so i know there arent big leaks.
Thats why i thought it could be just the oil missing problem.

Midsdaz,Im sorry but i didnt understand what you said :mrgreen:
what could maybe be worth to try?

If u got a leak ignore wat I said

sounds like Master cylinder if youve got a leak on the pedal,

Iwouidnt drive or try to drive the car, , :roll:

Dont worry,i wount move it anymore,just had to come home with it.
I thought so too that its the master cylinder,thats right near the pedal right?

well,guys ,if you thinking of coming to croatia for vacantion,u got a place to crash :cheesy:

I have solved the problem and im gonna post it here so it may be helpfull to anybody else who gets this problem.

car-peugeot 406 2.0 turbo 1997 D8

problem-there was an oil leaking on the clutch pedal and the pedal itself was half down,barely able to shift gears.

reason-one of the clutch cylinder (master or slave)

You cant replace one cylinder,its a closed system,and if 1 element goes dead,you got to replace the whole thing
(both cylinders)

cost-250 euro
the part was ordered from the Czech republic becose there were no parts here :|
part itself costed 210 euro.
