Engine cover clips

Post by FarmerPug »

These have been on ebay a while:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hdi-engine-co ... 8611260192

but every one i bid on i end up loosing the auction usually by a stupidly small amount, the thing is that most of what is in the kit looks like its available from a hardware shop, what would the black spacer be made of? And does it serve any purpose because by the look of it there is a nut either side of it

imade my own,
there easy to make, cost me less than 3 quid for about 200 threaded links made up, iwas going to do this too the Renault but it looks like theyve aready got the idea and fit them standard :|

if you need any threaded links ive got loads left idont need,
ive no washers and nuts left tho iused them all on sumfink else

Edit: forgot to add, for the rubber mount , its only rubber pipe,
ijust found some that went on the thread tight,

put end of thread in a vice and wound the pipe on with a pair of pliers,

They look like the Renault exhaust bungs as mentioned elsewhere on this here board. Big washers because the holes in the covers are big perhaps? It's a while since I did mine. What I got 4 of the Renault exhaust mountings & 4 nuts to fit 'em, opened up the clips & took the gubbins out, put the nuts on a bit of threaded rod and heated them up on the gas cooker. Once hot I sweated them into the clips, which I thought would have held them but I ended up epoxying them in (careful not to get any on the threads). Then I stuck the bases back on & screwed them onto the rubber bungs. One drawback is I can't do them up very tight but I didn't loose on in about a year of driving. They look like the real deal too 8)
