By the way are you allowed to drive with the towbar on even if you tow nothing?
Here it is (righteously imho) illegal.

Well I do not know how ou call it, when you are not towing you should remove the "hook". This is because if you have an incident with the hook on it makes 90% of the bumper aimless, since the strenght of the impact gets dissipated directly by the chassis to which the towbar is attached. It makes sense, really.
The system is probably a bit different than those present in the UK, in fact in the UK you have a different towbar layout from the rest of the world as far as I can see.

You have detachable tow bars.
Usually those are only available as an optional extra when you buy the car new.
Here towbars are generally permenant.

I can see the logic in that. My Xantia had a towbar & when the old guy in the Xsara drove into the back of me it wrote his car off (while barely damaging mine) but the physio told me that the main reason it did a fair bit of damage to me is that the bumper didn't absorb the impact in the way that it is supposed to.

You can buy them here but they are more expensive, i just bought the basic one to fit to mine which really with a pair of spanners it's easy enough to get the ball off and thinking of it theres logic in the Italian law especially where injury is concerned...waue what sort of injury did you have? i guess your body took a lot of the impact on from the chasis?

When I had my first Xantia an idiot ran hard into the back of my wife as she was waiting to turn off the motorway at the roundabout, his car was an Astra estate, the Xantia towbar was jammed inside the cylinder block on the Astra and the Xantia rear end had collapsed 2 inches past the rear doors.
My wife was badly hurt with whiplash and back problems....she still suffers pain after 13 years.
When i fitted my factory fit towbar (detachable) to the back of my bmw you have to discard the bumper shock absorbers and bolt a chuffing great beam behind the bumper across the back panel,i would have thought it would play havoc with the crumple zones.My Exec has a brink towbar fitted which has a neck held on with 2 bolts,i remove the neck when not using it if for nothing else than it sticks out a mile and i'm always cracking me shin on it when loading stuff in the back.

I never liked the idea of a removable tow bar, id end up loosing the thing. The great bit about the tow bar is the car doesn't get any damage if some plonker reverses into it.
The filter housing, isn't that a strange part to break, ive taken mine off with a hammer and screwdriver but it didnt crack, the plastic feels fairly strong.

Mmmmh I do not know, I've heard of the filter housing of the 2.2HDi breaking, it's an almost-common fault. On the 407 they made a better design and the two fuel links are more solid. Honestly I did not understand if in this case it was just the tube that unplugged or if the plastic broke.

When i changed it the other day when servicing the car, once the green plug was disconnected and the lid unscrewed i was able to twist the lid around with the two pipes still connected (in the video the lid or pipes don't look like they were going to snap), however i did forget to put the new seal in so the first time i primed the pump diesel pished all over the engine.
Is there a difference in the 90 and 110 fuel filter housings?
Wow nice... imho it may have been already cracked by someone forcing it and then maybe fixed with Araldite or something. Possible?
