Bang on matey! modern diesel's are NOT for popping down to the shops.kevtherev wrote:alot of diesel cars nowadays are just little town runabouts that people buy, as they are under the false impression that it will be cheaper to run.
As for the price of diesel cars i suppose it all comes down to supply and demand. Lots of people want one as they think it will be cheaper motoring /tax, but one clogged particulate filter will soon wipe out any potential savings, plus these modern diesels tend to be more expensive to fix when they do go wrong

was looking for a friend prices are a joke,
would agree with all of that. i must admit while window shopping on auto trader looking at diesels, gave up and decided to just run this one into the ground . with only 80k miles on the clock i might be a while till i get something elseally406 wrote:
The irony is, the 1.8 16v petrol returns smiliar MPG to the XUD, it's cheaper to maintain and service, a damn site quicker, handles better and is nicer to drive. However people see "petrol" make an assumption without working anything out, they'd pick a diesel every time. If mine didn't run on veg I certainly would be driving something else.
yeah there are thousands of money pits just waiting to happen ,driving round towns and cities all over the countryWelly wrote: Bang on matey! modern diesel's are NOT for popping down to the shops.
