time to register i suppose. lol

Post by CBDSonline »

Newbie alert.. hahaha

I just float around gathering idea's and info about my 406 Rapier 90 HDI 2002 Siemens beast of a taxi.

She has had a hard life as a taxi (poor thing) and is now starting to show her age but i need at least another year out of her before i can let her become a family car again.
I have started to tart her up (mutton dressed as lamb) lol so i need a bit of help here and there so i suppose i better join the forum so i can try and get some answers to a few questions and maybe answer some and repay the help.

Cheers guys for the help i have found so far

Chris
406 D9 2002 in Met blue . Full leather interior. Fully working puddle lights (LED's). Both interior lights work from the front switched light (LED's). Door handle Lights (internal LED's). Yup i love LED's but not as much as the BSI does .

Hi & welcome.

Sounds like an interesting example :cheesy:
How many miles on it? How many are you putting on every week? What bits are wearing out? What bits do you want to tart up? Can we see a photo?

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

al post a pic of her soon.

she has a 114300 on the clock at the mo.
Second engine as the first one died when the fan/aux belt shredded and the wires inside it wrapped the bottom pulley and for some reason skipped a couple of teeth and mashed a valve or 2. Ooops. 2nd gearbox as the shaft bearing in the box let go and mashed the clutch and flywheel..

she has been a taxi for 5 years but only the past 2 years has she been used as the guy i bought it from had it parked in the garden for 3 years cos she decided to go into limp me to hell mode.. eventually i got her sorted after reading various forums. the MFD had some pollution fault displayed but after a few weeks of tearing hair out it turned out to be a faulty high pressure sensor on the fuel rail.. nice of the MFD to give false info.

Yearly millage varies as to how busy the town is but since its a little town and has quite a few small villages in and around a 30 mile radius the miles can be clocked up rapidly . I took over the love for her at 75k just under 2 years ago and now she is at 114k so i suppose its about 20k a year

Whats done so far.
Converted d8 electric leather seats to manual operated seats.
Changed the black fabric door cards for leather with puddle lights (and they work so i might do a write up if i can remember but i don't have picture tho).
Changed the interior roof lights wiring so i can switch the back one on from the front light switch.
also changed the wiring for them to use LED bulbs (without doing it you either have LEDs working only with doors open or only with the switch) (easy once the brain and logic kicked in).
Inside door handle lights so the punters can find the handles in the dark (duhhh pished punters seem to loose all logic and use of their eyes).
MFD is now blue.
all door windows switches are white (ish).
Boot spoiler colour coded and fitted by the previous owner.

Still to fit and do.
Dash clock lights to white and blue needles.
Aircon panel with blue display and white control buttons.
USB socket to charge me fone on the go so i dont have to trail a wire from the sony cd/radio over the steering wheel housing.
Replace the wiper assy as they stop about 6 inches up the screen from the bottom
NSF wheel arch liner replacement (badger ran into me on a country road and mashed the whole liner to small bits. lol
Tow bar wiring for the electrics.
Comm2000 to be replaced as i have an airbag light and driver trigger 2 fault bla bla i can't remember what pp2000 says about it but testing with resistor fitted to green airbag connector has a open circuit fault but the bottom brown connector and resistor clears the fault leading to a faulty comm2000 unit.

Life story over i think. unless i remember anything else

Cheers
Chris

BTW bolox to the spelling and punctuation so don't bother telling me its wrong .I dont care
