I must have rebuilt about 30 of those engines, dead simple job for a proper mechanic.

Less than a working week to take out the engine and rebuild it then refit and finish.

I used to rebuild all sorts of stuff, engines, gearboxes, axles, diffs....stuff I don't get to do any more.

Looked at a Vectra earlier that needs head gasket, looking forward to doing that.

I would love to get back doing proper mechanicing instead of all this boring servicing and crap, there's no fun it these days, anybody can do that.

Unfortunately i'm nearing retirement, so not an option.

Thats a great video, proper mechanising there no messing around with coding fuel injectors or getting the immobiliser to unlock.

Although one thing with older engines the carburettors look more complicated than the engine, all them tiny screws and springs to go missing

I envy those that have the skills to rebuild engines.

I get lost at anything more complicated than basic servicing.

Taking pictures of each bolt coming out? he must be nuts (no pun intended).

Fair play though for the effort.

Years since I did one, think the last was a Rootes 1725 from a Humber Sceptre, circa 1971, in 1979.
