Evening All
Is there anyone out there selling (or about to sell) a good spec and 'newish', low-mileage 406 ??? (why would anyone, but I'll ask anyway). My 2002 Exec petrol saloon died in a fire three weeks ago, and though I've since looked at lots of other cars I honestly haven't seen anything else I'd prefer - though maybe i should steer clear of another HPi as my Exec cost me a fortune in maintenance bills ! Has anyone else had lots of trouble with this variant ?
An estate would appeal - but Dai's is heading eleswhere - though there's probably more chance of finding a saloon. Can't afford a 3-litre, a coupe is the forbidden fruit I would love, I would like another SRi (had one 2006- 2009 and loved it) but probably can't afford the insurance after two 406 'write-offs' within last 3 years (one flood, one fire - unlucky or what ?!) so it's probably a 2 litre petrol if i can't find a 2.2 diesel. Can't get excited at the prospect of a 2 litre diesel, even a 110bhp (0-60 in 15 mins ?) - I test-drove a 2.2 diesel a couple of years ago but even that seemed sluggish - but maybe somone can convert me ?
Have i any chance of a really nice, well-kept and low mileage (under 70k ???) high-spec 406 ? Have seen a few 406s on Autotrader and other websites but can't be sure of pedigree or condition and (because i live down in Devon) don't really want to trek off to Glasgow or Grimsby etc to find out they're not worth buying.
Any information leading to my acquiring a good 406 (like er this week if possible ...) would be most welcome. Many thanks for any help or advice anyone can offer - Cheers, Colin
Wanted urgently - top quality 406 estate or saloon
