does your external temperature digit 'blink'?
Since its got cold, my D9 info gives me a warning re ice..very nice...gf says 'so what does it do about it?' me: ' shoots salt out of Bondesque gun beneath bonnet'. 'slap'...
Anyway (brrn drinking, as if it doesnt show).....anyway from 3 degrees and below the digit blinks maybe this is also a warning? Does anyone else get this, can I turn it off...its a bit irritating.

Ice alert
All the cars I know bleep or bong or make some noise when the temp is below 3C, why is it my old girl doesn't or can you make em bong?
If you're good enough with a soldering iron to be able to hack the trip computer to bong, you really wouldn't need telling how to do it
It'd be fairly simple - just locate the pcb track which lights the minus and use it to pass current (probably using the computer's +12v) to a little sample player from maplins then through a quick and dirty amp. Plenty of room inside it to glue a little piezo speaker...

Hmm but the segment that displays a minus figure can be used for to make up other numbers like when it's er.. +20 or +30 or +40 outside ;) All of these would use the same segment.mjb wrote:If you're good enough with a soldering iron to be able to hack the trip computer to bong, you really wouldn't need telling how to do itIt'd be fairly simple - just locate the pcb track which lights the minus and use it to pass current (probably using the computer's +12v) to a little sample player from maplins then through a quick and dirty amp. Probably better get some PIC chip thingie to detect an on/off state of the C (the blink) and go from there...

Bong!
It wouldn't need a speaker since there is one in the unit anyhow, but captian Jack is right, the segment is used for other things. It just seems strange to have a warning but nothing audible to bring your attention to it whilst driving.
Re: Bong!
Not on the D8... Also I'm pretty sure mine had the minus on its own, away from the main digits when it was showing the temp in the top-right cornermuffindell wrote:It wouldn't need a speaker since there is one in the unit anyhow,
