Dodgy door locks

Afternoon chaps,

Not sure if this is the right section, but never mind. I'm struggling with the door locks on my D8. I've had a quick search and it seems a few people have had similar issues. Gremlins are:
Central locking motor doesn't work on the drivers door - not normally a problem as I unlock that door with the key.
When unlocked with the key, drivers door makes a click click click noise after all the other doors have finished unlocking.
The lock on the drivers door has gone really stiff. Lots of wiggling needed to get it to work - more often than not it spins in the barrel (anti theft I believe)
My boot lock has seized solid, but still works on the central locking.
Remote part of the central locking doesn't work. I got a new battery for the key when I bought the car and spent ages trying to get it to sync back up with the car. It would only ever operate when I was sat inside, which kind of defeated the point of remote locking. Shortly after fitting, the light on the key gave up working when I pressed the button - perhaps a dodgy battery (it was from flebay)?

So, I'm a little worried the drivers lock is going to give up completely and I'll be left climbing in through the passenger door I've moved to the spare key, which seems marginally better, but not much. Is there anything I can do or try to either fix the remote locking, save or prolong the use of the lock in the drivers door?

I'm presuming the best solution might be to replace the lot, but I'm not sure I fancy all the pain of swapping everything over.

I'm not good on electrics generally so someone else can answer that

But for time being, get some WD40 and liberally spray into the lock so it gets a good saturising
This should cure the stiffness, and the spinning of the barrel - the stiffness may be part of the central locking issue as well, so start there first

Yes,plods advice is good,my locks from time to time starts to get stiffer so i shower the damn thing with WD40,works well,even for defrozing.
I have also changed the batter on my key,only thing that is working is that little red light,lock is not responding so i dont think battery is the problem.
Sometimes i get also that key spinning in the lock,i pull it out and in again and works.

Yes, the key spinning is an anti-theft feature, what it means is if someone puts anything in the lock to try and force it there's no chance of it doing anything because it just defeats the spring and the lock spins. Sadly they also do this with the right key once they get a bit stiff (always worth lubricating them from time to time as a flat battery is not the best time to discover the locks are stuffed...)

Btw if they spin be careful to leave them the right way up or nothing will work in them.

Many years ago it amused me that, with a little judicious wiggling, the key for my Hillman got me into every Ford that I tried it on (I'm guessing about 30 of them)

I'd try a new (decent!) battery first, it sounds like that battery didn't have enough juice in it.

I'm not too clever on the central locking either but I suspect what you'd need are the plip & the ecu, preferably from a known to be good car. I think there's 4 sorts, with/without deadlocking and keypad or immobiliser chip (I don't think they have both).

If you're worried get another driver's door lock, there appears to be 3 sorts but the first looks like it's for cars without central locking at all. The other 2 depend on whether the car's got dead locks or not (dead lock plips have 2 buttons on a D8). This is saloon & estate, coupés only have deadlocks.

I've given it a darn good seeing to with the WD40, which has helped no end. Funny all the different sorts of problems that that cures!

I'll try get hold of a better battery for the remote - any advice on make or where to purchase??
