Blue anti freeze in modern engine?

Post by RobTurbo »

I know you shouldn't use red/pink/orange (OAT) anti freeze in old engines because it can cause problems with seals etc, but is there any problems using blue (IAT) anti freeze in modern engines?

I'm changing my timing belt tomorrow and will be doing the water pump at the same time, I have 5 litres of blue concentrate anti freeze and would rather use this than go out and buy more.

And by remarkable fortunate coincidence..., it's blue stuff that you can buy at Poundland. :)

I personally wouldn't cheap out on coolant.
I'll only use Mocal Inugel or Fords ready mixed stuff (10yr life).

The stuff I had was halfords 2 year stuff, around £12 with a trade card, it's in now!

Whoever changed the belt the last time broke the top timing belt cover and it had rubbed on the belt for a while then got cable tied out of the way, I think I have one laying around somewhere, I'll dig it out and do the job right!
