Some Car Owners.....

Post by niz406 »

Are just like whores, hoe's, slappers.....!

They change cars far to often and never settle with one for long enough to establish a good working relationship! :D

I don't buy cars left, right, and center... I brought my car and have had it 6 years and even though its depreciated about £5k in this time, I wouldn't seel it on to then buy something else and then have to spend all that time investing in starting over again with a new model! its just like women, well kind of..... you have the honeymoon perid where the car is sweet and faultless!

Then over time, you start to notice things.. things like she isn't treating you right and the engine just seems to be missing a few dozen horses extra under the bonnet! So what do you do, you spend money on the car you have and you build a good relationship with it, just like with your partners, you give her money or buy her things and she is happy and you get treated better by her.... she performs faster and gives you the drive of your life...

Now I may be just reading into things far too much but some older members that came and went are selling themselves short, they chop and chane cars and end up leaving one community / forum to join another... they leave without even a word of goodbye, whores and slappers the lot of them...

OK maybe them and there 406's were just not working out, or maybe they just like being unfaithful who knows! but blokes and their motors are more than just driver and work horse!.... R.E.S.P.E.C.T this is what Peugeot demands from me ! and thats what I give it, who else would do another head gasket on their motor a 2nd time! Most people would just sack it off and buy something else!

Not me.... I'm dedicated! This car will never change hands now until its life comes to an end! It will go from being my car to my project..... then my rusty old bucket on the drive ! ( hopefully not if I have anything to do about it! ) :D

So whats your views on these slappers and have you been one before your 406?? all stories welcome ! :D

ive been through 7 different cars before my current 406
and im only 19,
first was a mint peugeot 306 1.9 d turbo with fpsh was not a mark on the car till i got hold of it, had it for 8 months and loved the thing, then was on my way to a friends house, got caught in some traffic, came to a stop, i looked in my rear view mirror and to my shock a mini was charging at me a 60mph, my car had to stop it, and believe me it was fudged, before this happend, after about a month of owning the 306, i got bored and went out and bought a wreck of a bmw 318i, it only got about a months use and was scrapped as it was such a shed, as a stop gap car for my 306 i bought a citroen ax, the insurance finally paid out for the 306, so i decided to go upmarket, i bought a 406 2.0 glx estate, i bought an estate as i had planned to use it as a mobile garage, i sold the ax, then my sister wanted a new car as she was jealous, but when she went to p/x her old car they didnt want it, they was only interested in my 406, so my sister somehow convinced me to swap her old car (bmw convertible) for my 406, the insurance was slowly killing me (over £500 a month!) and unfortunatley 2 weeks into owning it, i was out driving and a crazy old man in a nissan micra decided to pull out into the side of me, sent me flying across the road but managed to avoid all other cars, it was written off, so i bought another citroen ax as a stop gap car, but this was fudged aswell, it may as well have been 2 stroke seeing how much smoke came out the back, insurance finally paid out for the convertible, i got my old 406 diesel for free from a friend, put it in for mot, eventually passed after spending almost £2,500, 3 months down the line, the engine mounting broke and snapped the cambelt, the thing needed a turbo aswell so i called it quits, ended back in the citroen ax again, but knew it was gonna be for a while, stuck a set of piston rings and valve stem seals and all was well, then summer started to hit, i couldnt bare having no a/c, i manged to scrape together enough money to buy my current 406 i then sold the citroen ax and now i still have the 406, and wouldnt like to say how much ive spent on this one or how long it will last...

Had this one 4 and a half years and can't see any point in changing it. There's nothing out there (within my price range anyway :cheesy: ) that I'd rather have...

My previous car was also a 406, 1998 1.8LX in Grey. Sold that one to a guy in work who promptly got promoted and got a company car, so he sold it on and made a profit  Saw it just the other day, still looks nice 8) . Was a lovely car but I really wanted more toys, like cruise, and climate :P . Had actually been saving for a coupe but then my 1st son came along and I decided that wasn't such a good idea, hence the estate

So what is next for the 406???

Tux I know what you mean, this was my first ever car that I owned... I had been a named driver for a year or so and owned other cars when I was younger and learning to drive, but this was my baby! and still is! and like you the other half know's it and hates it! She hates the fact someone else got a seeing to on the back seat and it wasn't her ! lol

But at the time that happened we were only friends ! lol :D

I'm 18 and the 406 is my first car.....so no I'm not one of those people who buy a new car every day of the week!

Considering selling it though for somthing newer....Pug 307, Renault Laguna V6 (petrol is cheap here) or a 406 Coupe. The 406 is different in Australia, never used as a company car or a sales rep mobile and people regard it as a more "prestigious" european marque, not a run of the mill company which flogs cheap hatchbacks!

Everyone I know who's had a 307 has had problems, electrical, mechanical, you name it. I wouldn't recommend one!
Laguna V6 - not my cup of tea but I can see the attraction :D Petrol's cheap eh? Bastard! :cheesy: :cheesy:
406 Coupe - YES! 8) 8) 8)

In my first days of driving, I didn't keep a car for more than a year, most just for months. But then houses started happening and things quickly slowed down. Our 306 D Turbo we had for nearly 6 years, my last 406 I had for just over 4 years and I can't see when I'll ever get rid of the coupe, and my wife seems equally contented with her 206cc.

Hahahah - we pay $1.25 AU for 95 RON - Divide it roughly by three and you get a good conversion!

Still - for us its not that bad....really did hurt when it hit the $1.60 mark during last year!

We only get Auto Lagunas (V6) though and finding a manual Coupe is hard as :(

My last was a Laguna (until I hit a kerb and wrote it off at 15mph). They're a bit, uhm, fragile. Also the interior isn't half as good as the 406's nor is the ride anywhere near as responsive - but it is comfortable for long drives a bit like the Xantia magic carpet effect.

The mk.1 pre-facelift version in 'RT Sport' trim is a damn good looking car though!

It is an expensive hobby chopping and changing cars, and for around the 3-5K mark you normally jump from one 'needy' car to another.

Of course, you may 'want' a newer styled car and that's fine, but you can equally have as much enjoyment staying with the car you know well.

I nearly bailed out recently realising that I need to spend up to £1,000.00 on my car this year because I thought ''I might aswell put £1K towards something a bit newer''.....but really, what's the point?

I know that the car will be ''as new'' after some TLC soon so I will be happy with it despite the cost.

I have seen soooooo many people bail out due to ridiculous claims of what it ''wrong'' with their car only to loose a shed load of cash on it's replacement.

One is all to easily judged these days by the car you drive, you might be the richest man in the land but if you drive an old shitter you will be a 'nobody' to others, I hate this way of thinking.

I hate it when a friend or relative ''surprises'' you by popping round in their new ''motah'' without having said anything about it before, like your supposed give a sh*t :|

Recently a mate of mine changed his Fiesta (which had been fine and cheap to run along with his Honda 1000 1 year old bike) and spunked £10,000.00 on a Poxhall Sintra? like an estate Vectra thing.

He had a minor accident in the Festa and decided he ''needed'' a large car, to be safe, like.

He was showing me the car and without wanting to shove the whole thing in my face in one go he proceeded to let me know about all it's ''features'' in dribs and drabs.....so I got to know about every last detail in the end anyway, not wanting to show off, like.

Those Poxhall things have a Fridge/DVD thing in the back seat and all sorts of other crap which will pack up after your Warrenty runs out.

Anyway, as others have said, a waste of money really, and a trip down Vanity Lane for most.

I've just thought though, I have two children.....maybe the 406 isn't safe, yep that's it.........I ''need'' a 2.5 ton 4 x 4 battering ram, for the streets, that will be just fine

406 is the first car I bought. I had a Ford Fiesta when I first passed my test, which was SLOW. The 1.1L engine nearly stalled going up a hill. Then I went to uni and didn't take the car with me, which got nicked a week later. Then I drove my mum's Renault Clio for a year, which is OK but that 1.9L Diesel engine really needs a turbo! Then I thought, I really need my own car... and looked at Beamers and VWs (it had to be a diesel). But in the end decided to buy a 406. Have never regretted it since.

I am ACHING to buy a new car now, though.. but it will be a 406 Coupe HDi if I do finally go for it. And probably as an addition to my current saloon rather than a replacement. It doesn't need anything "doing" to it as of now, so I am quite happy to keep it... but that coupe... ohhh.... it makes me wanna masturbate!!!
