Help! Locked out of Peugeot 207

Post by Doggy »

My son was moving a 207, got out of the car to shift a bin, closed the door and it locked itself.

All the doors are locked, engine's idling, it has half a tank of petrol and there is no spare key avaialble. Neither he or the owner have AA cover or similar,

Guess it's a case of breaking in somehow, but anybody know any alternatives?

Small glass window in the corner of the front door would be the best bet.

Or call the AA and say you were driving it? assuming you have AA?

I just realized you might not be anywhere near it... If that's the case there's nothing going on here move along. :supafrisk:

A small window is cheaper to fix than an overheated engine or ignition left on...
Could pop the locks but that's an expensive fix too, if its a 3 door - the back side glass is an easy fix.
Good luck!!

Engines don't overheat these days unless there is a serious fault.

When I first passed my test and had my 1.9TD I was filtering used veg oil (which I got for free) mixing it with some mis fuel (5% if it was mainly petrol, 20-50% if it was mainly diesel) which I also got for free and sticking it in the tank with a litre of two stroke oil to keep everything lubricated.
I used to go out in the evenings with my mates and I would just leave my car idling for hours on end! Was great in the winter as while everyone was freezing their bollucks off in their cars because they couldn't afford to keep them on, I was lovely and warm!
I fitted a switch that when fitted bridged two terminals on the ignition so I could take the key out and leave the engine running.

Never did it any harm at all!

Then again I remember my cousin having a Corsa B on an N reg (I Think?) and if he left that idling, even if the fan kicked in it would still over heat!

I did the same thing with a Marina once - force of habit had me press the lock button down with my elbow as I got out. I smashed a quarterlight, it took a few goes to break it and it was a complete pain in the bum to replace.

Just remember, in a year's time it'll be a funny story to tell in the pub...

I'd go quarterglass too Eric. Cheap & easy to replace & only a small hole to cover while you're waiting for it to arrive.. If he's likely to waste half a tank of fuel waiting to figure out what to do, that'll be £30 gone already.

Hopefully sorted now, but I would have started with stalling it out by blocking the exhaust.
Remember - it only takes a few inches of water to drown a 406 don't make the same mistake I made! The V6 Exec is no more.

Sorted!

Long story short, without too much detial on a public forum, expanding airbag to ease the gap open a tiny fraction, very slender rod to operate electric window.......

90 seconds, no damage, (except to his wallet).

Thanks Guys. 8)
