Advice on selling a car for spares or repair.

Post by jasper5 »

I have a 2005 Kia Carens 1.6 Estate 5 seat model which has just had a crank problem...lent it to my son to take to his house whilst I did his mot and service and as he got 10 minutes from his house on the Wirral (50 mile trip) the oil light came on, he drove it home with oil light on....light is off now, but it needs big end bearings now so I've decided to sell it for spares or repairs on ebay.

I've never sold anything on ebay never mind a car so I would welcome any suggestions as to how to go about presenting it for sale.

Cheers :D

Hi Jasper, firstly just look at other cars the same and see how they are presenting theirs, spares or repair, pictures, mileage, condition etc as a guide price.
If you see an advert you like for the same model ( or any other car really ) just copy and paste the auction wording to your selling auction but obviously change the details to match your car.. :supafrisk:
Cheating a bit, but saves hassle and typing...

ive sold a fair few on ebay in the past.
sometimes it acan be a p.i.t.a time'wasters and theres the ebay/paypal fees which are a joke,
you may be best to work out a price you want for it and put an add on gum tree etc,
theres car dealers trawling that for bargains, so with it being a 05 reg
i dont think itd be long before your getting calls,

Are you sure you want to sell it as spares / repairs? IF you spent that money to fix it up - would it sell for a bit more, or are you cutting your losses now?
Good luck with what you decide!

Haven't decided what to do yet. but i'm leaning towards fixing up the engine and keeping the car....I need to get it back from my son's on the Wirral first.
