MOT Tomorrow

Post by gumby6371 »

Just booked my MOT for tomorrow lunch time, the only obvious things I need to sort are the number plate bulb the tester told me to replace last year  and blocked washer jets. Can anyone recommend the best thing to soak my washer jets in to clear the crud out of them?

Good luck with the MOT .To clean my jets out I got my Mrs to work the washers while I stuck one of her sewing needles in the jets and wiggled it about :supafrisk:

Cheers Robb,

I'll have a play tonight, just nipped down to the LMF and shelled out a whopping 50p for the number plate bulb! cars can be soooo expensive, I hope thats all it cost me to get it through the test but I doubt it

You could try soaking the jets in Vinegar.

30 minutes in a 50/50 mix of vinegar and hot water and you wouldn't believe the amount of crap that came out!!!
Work like new now :cheesy:

Fingers crossed the test tomorrow wont be a wallet breaker

PASSED!!!!
No advisories and even the tester commented on it being in good condition for it's old age :cheesy:
One thing I'm not happy about is the new number plate bulb I fitted yesterday had stopped working by the time it was on the ramps, but he just told me to fix it and didn't mark it down. I'll clean up the contacts at the weekend and see if that fixes it.

I did watch most of the test (after a visit to the butty van) and winced several times as the new 'shake test' pulled the front end back and forth, they have no consideration for the elderly!!!
