Hello mates, my 406 today had this issue, the problem started when i had A/C turned on and when i was about to start the trip i let the clutch quickly and the engine went down obviously, right away i started it again but the blower didn't worked, and it's on that condition since then in auto or manual the A/C kicks in ( i hear the click and noise outside from the compressor) but the blower doesn't work.
By the way some months ago my BSI had water on it and eletricals started playing like the wipers working by themselfs dash and MFD blinking and beeping, went right away to my auto eletrician and he dried the BSI on a hothouse where you dry the painting of a car. Well the BSI was alive again and with no problems so far, hope this is not a BSI related problem .
Any ideas?
Thank you.

+1, also try putting blower on full speed with engine running and wiggling the thick wires from under small piece of carpet, beneath glove box, and follow them behind the centre console. There is a resistor behind there that controls blower speed, this often goes wrong.
£25 from eBay.

It depends on the age of your 406. I think D8 ( pre 1998 ) are the first one, mine was 2002 so was the second one.
If you can see a tiny 6mm? bolt facing up behind the console then yes, its the second one. You may see the green connectors too - give these a wiggle with blower and engine running.

You can get to the connectors by un-clipping the carpet under glovebox and look by the bulkhead behind console - MFD etc doesn't need to be removed - you have to lay in a funny position though to get to the bolt.
Don't forget to have engine running at the same time.

Yes, thats the usual culprit but ignition barrel or the motor itself can also be at fault. Did you unplug and clean the green connections - you can do this while its in place.
At least trying this has eliminated the resistor, free diagnostics...

Yes it is the right one. The green connectors are tricky to take out but not impossible.
I'm not sure about the ignition barrel, I think it just gets worn out where the power from the blower connects. Worth a wiggle with the key in and engine running though.

Removed the plug where the power goes in to the fan and no signs of wear, well tomorrow i will try to know which device is dead and how much it costs here so i can compare the price from the U.K, normally it's cheapest in the U.K. even with the postage that in some cases costs the same or more than the actual item, but who cares it's cheapest .
By the way it's impossible to remove the cables without removing the device, there's a wall just in front of them.
Also There's another bolt from the other side, how the hell can it be removed ? Taking out the front panel MFD, climate control and radio ?

Once the bolt is undone, the whole thing is pulled downwards towards the floor. You can unplug it and test it when it is out.

Strange is that this part that we have talked earlier is also used in the 406, and have the same name heater blower resistor, the thing is that in the description says that usually when this item is at fault the fan only operates a full speed which is not the case.
