Speak to me about the stereo / speakers (pretty please!)

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Speak to me about the stereo / speakers (pretty please!)

Post by Sonia406 »

I vowed never to change the head unit but I probably will be.....
Would be nice to have a head unit with USB, SD card and of course a AUX socket on it...
Did think about trying to wire in a AUX in the back of the stereo but seems it would be tit ache, so think a new head unit is the way forward.

I have the standard Clarion CD player and standard harman kardon speakers (in the front at least).

Does anyone know the RMS watt of the head unit and the speakers?

I listen to music with a lot of heavy bass in it (dubstep, garage, drum and bass etc) and I think I've managed to pop these  Doesn't perform well above, say volume level 10, just hearing a popping noise
While I size up which speakers and head I want, I want to know the watt of these so I can upgrade and not buy something that turns out to be the same power

Cheers :D

For speaker upgrade - I always grab jbl- its made by Harman
So its good quality - 180w ones are normaly under 30 quid.

Radios - alpine is the one too look for, a lot of them are obsolete now so eBay is the place for them

Also I think. Philips make good headunits/halfords is the place to look for good stereos
I buy the end of line ones off them it saves 50 quid or so off the original price.

I love Sony stuff. My head unit & MP3 changer are nearly 10 years old & have been brilliant since day one. The one in the link looks ok, but it may be worth spending a few quid more on one with a couple of pre-outs so that you can easily plug in an amp at a later date if you wanted. My one even has a sub out with the option of being able to turn the sub down in the same way that you adjust the treble & bass.
