Remote Central lock

Just a quick question before i go and dismantle the car:
My remote lock is dead,i thought that battery is dead so i replaced it...no effect.

What is the way to reprogram it,because i think thats the main issue,needs to be reprogrammed.
Something about putting the key in ignition,turning on the power,and hold that button for 10 seconds?

If that doesnt work than its probably the problem in that unit just under the mirror,right?
