Lexia / Diagbox - What version is best?

Post by Sonia406 »

Come on then peeps - let's have ''this'' discussion again.

I've just bought a laptop running XP and now looking at the PP2000, Lexia, Diagbox to purchase.
Which one do you recommend and why?
I notice there is a cheap version 6.8 which is £30 but then the latest I've seen is 7.04...

I know that Jasper is having a lot of set up issues and wonder if you guys have had the same kind of issues?

Cheers

Hi Sonia, it seems that Diagbox is best for later Peugeots ( 407's etc ) and the Lexia/Peugeot Planet is the one for older Peugeots. If you install Diagbox and plug it in to a 406 then it uses a type of Peugeot Planet anyway...

I'm not sure what version mine is, I think it is PP2000, 22.14 or something? Works fine for me....

That's exactly what happened to me Kelv. Diagbox 6.01. But it seemed that Diagbox was holding open a connection to the box which then prevented Planet from starting. So I uninstalled it and went for plain Planet instead. I think it's 23.XX

Am very interested in Jasper5's experience with Diagbox 7 though.

I think it's Tatsfield on the coupe forum who always points out that our cars haven't been manufactured since 2003, so there's nothing new in Diagbox for us, and the most appropriate system is one that's contemporary with our cars.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

When I finally get this Diagbox working I'll post my findings.

My interest in getting the later version 7 is for commercial reasons mostly...I want to be able to sell my services to diagnose problems with as many Peugeots as possible, not just the 406.

I seem to be having a lot of trouble with connecting my car with diagbox.
I am using a Windows 7 64bit with Diagbox 6.04 and my car is a 2000 3.0 V6
I click on 406, then it asks me to connect to the car, which I do, then I have 4 options; 406, 406 coupe, 406R and 406 coupe R. I have tried all 4.
Then, I have the option of using Diagtool, PP2000, PP Measure and PP(something else), I have tried all of them. Some ask for my DAM number or VIN, which I enter but all of them don't actually load anything. I tried to go onto '607' (as it uses the same engine), and that actually loaded and tried to connect to all the different ECU's, etc. but came up with no dialogue (obviously). But it actually loaded somewhat more than clicking 406.
I tried using diagbox 7.04 but that was even worse.

Should I be using XP instead?
What am I doing wrong?
Please help!

Hi Bud,
I'll give you what I know but remember this was right for me, but the more research I do this seams to be right.
You need a Lexia interface, Don't bother loading Diagtool as you can't run both ( pp2000 ) as well unless you put a partion on your laptop & you only need pp2000 anyway unless your car is 2006 or newer.
Here's the rub, you need xp pro for it to run smoothly & it only work's on 32bit .
You also need to make sure that you have all malware / spyware / antiviruses dissabled & do not connect to the internet for validation / updates as this is a bootleg copy :cheesy:
Hope this helps Paul. :)
p.s I will post a pic of my kit so anyone who need's to can use for a referance point  , to id what you need.

I've installed PP and having issues on start up.
I can't activate it as yet as when I start it, it says it's not possible to start PPO for the following reasons:
PP interface is not connected to the USB port of the PC or
Peugeot planet interface is being used by another application.
Therefore PP interface must be connected to the PC and other applications must be closed.

PPO is the only thing running and it is blinking well connected via USB port.

I have the PSA interface checker downloaded, driver and the interface install also downloaded, they have gone through the whole finding it's driver process and said it's now installed and ready to be plugged in.

Good fun getting it to work anit it  , no seriously thou did you have your interface pluged in via your usb port during install as this is a must. Took my I.T buddy three go's to get to install / run right, without him I'd be F.U.B.A.R  .

On the leaflet that came with my setup there is a note about common connection problems......

It says.....If you start up PP2000 and you are presented with "The interface cannot be initialised or is already in use by another programme" simply disconnect the interface from usb port then reconnect interface and select PP2000, diagnostic scan should now begin.

Oh my god - REALLY????

I've thought it was a driver problem because literally it would say found new hardware. I install the driver, it says complete. Then a few seconds later - found new hardware and the process begins again...

Absolutely certain the interface needs to be plugged in while installing Pp2000 yeah?
I shall do that then...

Jasper, tried that :-(

Right, I've installed PP with the interface installed first and connected via USB...

Still the same error as before.

Again, I've tried unplugging the USB to reconnect, even restarted the machine and no joy.............

I've restored the machine to erase any old files that were on the machine.........

There are loads of setup guides on youtube, just load youtube and search Diagbox install or pp2000 install.

There are also lots of different versions.
