Local petrol theft?

Post by scotty73 »

Can anyone see this?
https://www.facebook.com/gwentpolice?hc_location=stream

You're looking for a cctv pic of a guy standing by a Hyundai Coupe?

For those who can't here's the write up.
Police are appealing for information regarding the theft of fuel from three petrol stations in Ystrad Mynach, Pengam and Bargoed and would like to speak to this man, who was driving a red Hyundai Coupe, in connection with the thefts.

The thefts occurred on Monday October 7th. £57.35p worth of diesel was stolen from Tesco Petrol station, Ystrad Mynach at 3.25pm; £73.00 worth of diesel from Capel’s Petrol station, Pengam at 6.30pm on the same day and then £66.61 diesel from the Murco Petrol Station, Bargoed at 11.10pm

If anyone has any information about the offences or recognises the man they are asked to call Gwent Police on 101 and quote log number 334 7/10/13

Was he f*cking drinking it?

I'm not buying a Hyundai Coupe, they sound like a nightmare to keep on the road :)

Might be more economical running on petrol :supafrisk:

As pointed out on fb, they didn't do a diesel Coupe so I'm wondering if there's a false tank in the car. I've no sympathies anyway, gas stations are very quick to put prices up in response to fluctuations in the price of crude oil but rather slower to drop them again.

Almost 200 quid in a day and it only got him around Bargoed... No wonder the poor bugger has to drive off without paying.

Steve's idea of a false tank is worth a punt.

That annoys me too, I mean a lot can happen in the time it takes from coming out the ground to going in our tanks.

I reckon this guy has frigged up a Talse Fank, where there's a scheme there's a schemer and all that.

Had a passenger ride in a V6 Hyundai Coupe SE (second generation). His was the top-spec model with all the available options ticked. He'd bought it 2nd hand from Arnold Clark (big mistake, as it turned out).

172 HP and 181 ft/lbs of torque from a 2.7 litre V6 (a whole 12 HP and 31 ft/lbs more than my 2.2 litre I4) and the fuel economy was shockingly bad (20 MPG was the highest I saw, and the owner was driving it like Miss Daisy was in the back seats) for a car that weighs less than 100 KG less than mine.

Also - it was cramped, uncomfortable (I have 19in rims and rubber-band tyres, and I feel fewer jolts from bumpy roads than I did in the Hyundai), the interior was made of very rattly plastic, and the seats were made of the sort of poor quality leather that the studs on the back of the owner's jeans were enough to carve a deep slit in the leather, leaving a long white mark each time he got in/out (said jeans made no impact to the leather in my Coupe)

He got rid in less than a month, because he kept taking it back to Arnold Clark every time the rust kept bubbling through the paper-thin paint on the rear-left quarterpanel. Turned out it had been in an accident and badly repaired before being resold, and that hadn't been disclosed. Traded it in for a diesel-powered Skoda Octavia.

Shame, because the 2nd gen Hyundai Coupe looks like quite a nice car to my eye.

My sister has one of those, a '10' reg owned from new with very few miles on it........I like to listen out for the Hydraulic Lifter 'tick' when she starts it up.........it normally clears by the time she gets to the top of my road.

I think you've hit the nail on the head Graeme, the welsh High & Dry owner is clearly hoping it will be confiscated.

I think the police call it bilking
They don't use the cars tank they put a drum on the back seat or in the boot and fill them up
I've had a few smack heads in the past offer me cheap fuel,

Most of the fuel stations are on the ball for it now.. pay first or feck off they say
