Revenge is a dish best served cold

Post by Sonia406 »

As some of my Facebook people will know my soon to be ex-husband owned a Ford Transit minibus (hence my ''I'd rather push a Peugeot than drive a Ford' sticker). It appeared on eBay and sold.
Wondering how he will be dropping off the kids and picking them up etc, I couldn't wait to see what he rocked up in.

Ford Galaxy Ghia, 1.9 DT (2nd gen)
He arrived in our street, parked up with a huge smile on his face. He looked smug about his beaten up '54 plate purchase. Scuffed Alloys, badges either badly corroded or fallen off, dings and dents everywhere. (I strongly suspect TAXI)
He said proudly how it has a 6 speed gearbox with push down reverse.
1.9 TURBO diesel, 130 brake.

It was at that point I said 'is that all?'

 Oh the look on his face.

I told him I am a 2.2 HDi with a turbo of course, and without trying I have more power than him and that's without the 180 re-map done.
His face, green with envy.

At what point do I piss on his parade that actually this hardened Ford fan is actually driving around a VDubz engine and shell just re-badged as a Ford?

Let's just say this time I could turn my back and walk away with a hugely smug look on my face and I wiped that smirk faster than last time when I said the bus wasn't worth what it sold for with the rust, non turbo version and the 'touch up' paint job he did with tip-ex

Noooooo yuck...

He returned the boys the other day, his rear view mirror fell off, he went to put it back on and the windscreen cracked
Much prefer a 7 seater 406 estate

That's pretty evil :frown:

And Sonia, that's coming over as quite petty here. I don't know how messy your split was (I guess you didn't involve solicitors as you can both still afford cars) but at the end of the day you still have to get on because of your kids. Just tell him his car is "quaint" or something.

My Parents have a Galaxy tdi 130 and i'm using it at the minute while my '6 is having the clutch done "up country" at a "friendly" garage.

While not as comfy or refined as the 406 I have to agree its is still a good car and a great car if you occasionally need to have a van :) It also towed my caravan arguably better than the 406 last weekend

Most annoying thing -> bizarrely having no steering wheel controls for the stereo (on a ghia spec)

From your last blog post I understand a bit of your background, but this thread is a bit playground "my dad is bigger than your dad". Beat your ex with percieved aloof-ness and disinterest rather than engaging in tit for tat.

Parents actually bought it because of the VW underpinnings! its the second one they have had, having had the first virtually from new at launch.

Sounds really dirty, that  Pretty sure that's actually illegal in this country, and many others.
