A Sad Day!

Post by gumby6371 »

So the D8 went in last nights paper at £500 ono, I've had 4 phone calls so far today including one from a guy that lives 2 minutes walk from my house.

He wandered down the road with a wad of 20's and drove back up the road 30 minutes later £500 lighter!

I was in the middle of de-cluttering and cleaning when he turned up so it was in a pretty grubby state but he still paid the asking price without even an attempt to haggle!

Gutted now I didn't ask for more but car shuffling every morning and evening is a right bind on the driveway and it had to go.
I put the steels back on this morning and took it for a blast after standing for a fortnight, as I cruised around I thought to myself, 'I'd buy this it's a great car'

Still, bought it for £600 2 years ago, never let me down and spent very little then sold for £500 is bloody good motoring!

I remember selling my HDi nearly 3 years ago for £650, around 6 years after I bought it at auction for £2200.

Not a bad rate of depreciation really.

Bought mine in Jan 2010 for £1400 & sold in May 2012 for £1750. Mind, there was a fair bit more than that spent on upgrades & maintenance in my 2yrs of ownership.

It does depend on how lucky you are with the original price though. I still see low mileage examples pop up now & again for £1500, but you can still find people trying their luck for £2500 for 130k ones.

I dropped the ball a little as I let him have a spare set of lights with the car which I should have offered up on here before parting with.

But I also found in the shed of many things..
D8 blower motorD8 Digital aircon/heater control panel in good nick but may be minus bulbs haven't checked yet
1*injector good as far as I know
D8 MFD again working when it came out of the car

All working when I stripped them out of my first D8

If any wants them it's postage plus a beer, if not eBay then skip

I bought a 1999 406 2.0HDi Estate Family from one of my customers silly lady took it to main dealer when it overheated they said it needed an engine £3000 I gave her £400 scrap value. Found a split in a heater hose replaced the hose moted it ran it for a year the moted it again and sold it to a customer of another mechanic friend for £1750 and was given his old D8 that needed a clutch sold that to another mate in the trade for £375 Then I bought my current 2000 D9 2.0HDi Executive Estate for £1100 3.5 years ago. :cheesy: :cheesy:
