My 406 Drowneddd .... Literally!

Post by k3nny »

The flood struck my city within a few hours, without warning whatsoever.

as a result, my pug was drowned as high as half a door. the interior is full of mud. ~>_<~ ....
my pioneer head unit as well as the whole sound system is drowned too.

the engine including ECU was also under water for almost 3 days long.

this is before

this is aftermath;

i'm thinking of replacing the engine XU10J4 with the turbo version from 406 2.0 Turbo XU10J4T IF the cost to fix is too expensive.

do i need to change the engine mounting? gearbox? ....
any ideas on how much will it cost (engine, loom)? (excluding shipping).

You wash your car and then comes along the rain... Typical... :)

With the amount of damage to it (especially the interior) and the work+cost of fixing it up, I'd seriously think about getting a new 406, salvaging as much of your old one as you can (like your bodykit for a start!) and scrapping/selling

my current 406 is under lease for at least another 2 years, so getting a new 406 is almost impossible for me right now.

rebuilding the interior and the sound system is somehow ... uhmm ... approachable. my biggest concern is the engine, alternator, AC, ECU etc.

we don't have that kind of access to spare parts here ... especially euro cars. so, yeah .... i was thinking of importing XU10J4T here instead. only IF my current engine needs a lot of money to fix though.

Have you seen the film "The Man Who Sued God" starring Billy Connolly? It's pretty crap but very relevant in this case :?

why dont you buy a doner car and get the bits you need, and sell the parts you dont, good like finding XU10J4T, if you do you wont regret it 8) if i recall those T16 lumps pushed 200bhp, it would be far easier to find a XU10J2CTE 8v turbo lump, and the gearbox, and engine mounts are the same as your XU10J4R so its a straight swap essentially :P

only XU10J4R available here, .... we don't have other than 2.0 petrol.
so ... import from U.K is the only option i've got.

then again, i'm still waiting for the inspection and cost estimation to fix my pug.

Yeah it was on recently, there were 2 or 3 scenes that made me PMSL (the one in the restraunt springs to mind  ) but all in all I wasn't overly impressed. I'm a big fan of Billy Connolly though, and reckon he's quite underrated as an actor. Have you seen "Water"? Now that was good!

Sorry k3nny, thread hijack!
