I'm sure I've put up a thread on here before.
Back in November 2012 I was working on a job which entailed walking across a muddy field 3-4 times a day. This meant I had soaking feel all day every day, couple this with the fact I had started swimming regularly my right foot become rife with athletes foot.
Now I treated it with potassium permanganate for a few weeks which kept it at bay until I started a job down in the West last February, it was mainly maintenance so I usually wore trainers as I found myself running around a building quite often.
Although the dry/scaly skin stayed there it never bothered me and never spread.
Now I recently finished there and about 3 weeks ago started back on a building site, this means wearing protective footwear all day that really can't breath. That now means that for 10 hours a day I have sweaty and hot feet.
As you can imagine in the last 3 weeks the athletes foot has come back with a vengeance and has even been bleeding in between the toes.
I've started treating it with potassium permanganate again tonight but at £20 for a pot of 30 tablets and using 4 tablets a day it's going to be getting expensive. And I'm not even sure it will get rid of it 100%.
I'm wondering if anyone has any home remedies or any sure fire way of getting rid of it for good.
I've tried everything you can get off the shelf and the doctor keeps prescribing me daktacourt which seems to do absolutely nothing.

Re: Athletes Foot
I had it when I was younger, I think I tried a few things but it's some powder in a metal bottle (might have been Scholl brand?) that worked for me. Bloody stunk though

Hi
I've never tried it, but Garlic is good at treating most things. It has antibacterial, antifungal properties, as does tea tree oil.

Re: Athletes Foot
I've not had the problem but I know a lot of skin complaints can be treated with Natural/Herbal ingredients. I would try visiting a Health/Herbal shop for advice.
Essential Oils are also good, I had a Verruca once that wouldn't go away, someone gave me a tiny pot of oil with concentrated Lemon - I put one drop on the Verruca and went to bed.........by the morning it had gone
Here, a quick Google later.........http://midnightremedies.com/4-1-athletesfoot.html folk there have used anything from Vagisil
to Urinating on the feet

Sounds similar to a now superceded product called Mycil. New name is Mycota. Ant-fungal talc.mjb wrote:I had it when I was younger, I think I tried a few things but it's some powder in a metal bottle (might have been Scholl brand?) that worked for me. Bloody stunk though
I occasionally get some Athletes Foot, and both of these have worked for me.
Wash feet, apply . The itching stopped quickly, and heals soon.
I noticed that the Wikipaedia entry for Athletes Foot mentions about swimming, in public pools
presumably, and advises wearing sandals to avoid infection or re-infection.

Re: Athletes Foot
The PP in tablet form sold for the purpose of treating athlete's foot is a ridiculously expensive way to buy it. Buy a tub of generic PP powder which is a fraction of the cost (sometimes called "Condy's Crystals"). Cheap and proven treatment that's been around since WW1 I believe.

Good luck with your problem. I do a lot of swimming and can empathise with you.
